Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Is this the proxy SEC TOURNAMENT thread or should we start one…

Not shocked by Florida over Mizzou and Kentucky over Georgia

As a Lady Vol fan and Oak Ridge,TN to Eugene, Oregon transplant (since 2016) it's kinda crazy AND SAD to see the down fall of both teams over these years. When Sabrina was here I was able to see a couple of Duck games and the place was PACKED.

None of those people even watch her, they only know because they’ve been promoting her on all the sports channels, I don’t follow or watch her but it’s everywhere now, I don’t remember Kelsey Plum getting all this exposure when she broke the record and she averaged 32ppg in that season. Just seems like an agenda to push her for some reason but whatever. I just checked and she gained like 500k followers in the last couple of weeks, so they exposure and pushing her helped her gain followers, and that tells me none of them people was checking for her before.
Did Kelsey plum have the kind of high-profile contracts with major companies like Caitlin Clark does now? I'm sure that NIL contracts also has something to do with it, not to mention the viewership Caitlin Clark has brought to women's basketball as a whole is at a totally different level. To put that in perspective South Carolina has has sold out their arena a record five times this year. Iowa with Caitlin Clark leading them is selling out home and away venues on a nightly basis.

Back when Kelsey plum was breaking that record we seen a lot about her and at the same time a lot about Kelsey Mitchell who was also scoring at a very high clip that year. They were probably the two most talked about players in college basketball that year, although they weren't selling out arena's.

I felt bad for the teams including Oregon that had a legitimate shot at a national championship the year the tournament was cancelled. Oregon had some really good players on that squad.

I’m not surprised they don’t recognize her, and she played with the same size ball as the men, something they don’t do today.

Have you ever seen players points counted towards a Division 1 record that were scored at the junior college and Division 2 levels?

Boston College fell apart at the end, but Louisville also got some help from the officials, getting away with fouling on a few steals there at the end.
Some really dumb possessions by Boston College they had it 55 to 52 with the ball and kept either turning it over or taking quick shots.
