Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Horribly, horribly officiated game.

Florida blew a one-point lead with a little over two minutes. Miss pulling away with aid from refs. 10-0 Ole Miss run in 1:22.

OM up 80-71 with 54 seconds left. Ugly game to match ugly officiating.
The worst was when OM player ran (should have been called a walk), through 2 FL players, while holding the ball in her arms like a football, and foul was called on FL.

This is FL’s 3rd game in 3 days, great run for them, don’t know how much energy they would have had for tomorrow.

That's the same crew we had against Kentucky Thursday afternoon...Hopefully their time is done at the tournament.

Dee Kantner was a pretty good whistle in our game against the Lady Gumps, hopefully we see her again against the Lady Cocks.

If ATM wasn't a wake up call for SC they may be in trouble against the LV's. Beating a very good team three times in less than a month is a monumental task.
I am hoping we played our worse game in the tournament against A&M and that Tennessee and LSU played their best....and that things will get back to normal. If not...I agree that Tennessee is primed to take us out and possibly win it all. This was an unfocused game for us. Maybe the girls will understand that. They don't get unraveled so maybe they will "ugly game" their way to another title.

I just got to say the name Juju Watkins. This young lady is going to be something special for years to come if she can stay healthy. She didn't shoot it great from the field last night 33.3%, but still managed to come up with 33 points against a very good UCLA team. Would love to have her in orange.

If Audi Crooks at Iowa State trades 15 pounds of fat for 15 pounds of muscle this off-season people better watch out. She’ll be one of the best players in the country. Love her game, so patient, beautiful touch and great bball IQ for a post. AND her build is TOO DIE FOR if you ask me, that’s how I’d like all my 5s if they can get up and down. Her broad shoulders and wide hips make her impossible to deal with offensively. She is what we would call in the olden days “a load.” And I mean that with the highest compliments possible.

That’s the refuse to lose attitude I’ve been talking about, her team looks for her to bring them home. I just wish our team work the same way with Rickea.

If Kitley is out for the season VT is getting bounced early in the NCAA tourney. They will get a high seed but they are pretty pitiful without her.

They have said she is out for the ACC tourney entirely but hope to have her back for the NCAA. Have heard teams do that before so their seed doesn’t tank though, would’ve be surprised if it was season ending but they are playing it close.

They've said over and over the team draws a ton of their confidence just fm Rickea's presence. I like that they still play Rickea within the offense instead of hero ball. It will help her a ton in the W bc that's exactly how she'll play there. RJ can still take over games for stretches when needed, and if it's close of course you're going to her. There are definitely times I wish she got more touches and shots up, but I think overall it's very good for her to have other scoring options.

RJ has become an excellant passer and has been getting multiple assists a game lately. That's been a big part of her development this year.

Aaliyah Edwards took an elbow to the nose in the third quarter today and was down on the floor for about 2 minutes. She left a puddle on blood on the floor, and when she came back from the locker room she had a splint on her nose. She may have broken it again, and if she can't come back tomorrow UConn will be down to 7 overall players. The same Providence player knocked KK Arnold down also, as she was down for about a minute. The officiating is so bad, not only making bad calls, but allowing a game to get out of control. Players should be thrown out when if they go too far, a two shot technical is not enough to solve this problem. Weaker teams do this when they play better teams, thinking that it will level the playing field. They seem to be right if the officials don't do anything about it except offer free throws.
