Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

She does this early every year then disappears when it matters.
Again, you know nothing. LOL. Being so far ahead at the time the team did what they have the first two games. Sitting Paige, or Paige deferring to the other players to make them perform without her. That has been a problem, and they are trying to get the other players to perform without her. If it was a close game, she would have done what was needed to win. BTW, she is the best clutch player in the game today, and you just can't see that, unless you saw it written somewhere. LOL

was looking through rosters and 2025 classes today. I think Ole Miss is going to fall off a cliff after this season. They are losing 5 key players to graduation and have only 1 mediocre commit for 2025. They are likely to lose some to the portal as they usually do also.

Might pick up some transfers, but building your team that way is not proving to be a good idea.

Texas is a school that surprises me as well. They have some young talent on their roster but really nothing coming in the next class and they lose several key players as well.

Those are two programs kids were falling all over themselves to play for 3 years ago. What changed?

And when the chips were on the table against Iowa?

Clark made her look like a fool. And not just when she inbounded it off her back, though that was the cherry on top.
09, Clark was 7-18 shooting in that game, PB was 7-17. Not much difference in that game shooting wise.

I thought Texas has Crump coming in next season? Plus Lee and Carlton coming in this season? Thats three All Americans to go with Booker and Oldacare, plus Harmon is still around this year. How many All Americans are needed to move your needle 09?

Will Harmon be back next season?

Yes they have a few top kids but they aren’t loading up like they did a few years ago. May not need to I suppose, but their player retention hasn’t been stellar either. Especially in the post.

Are we saying that PB’s standard is she has to win every game?

The ones that matter

For as long as they want to call her a generational player and one of the best ever. Yet she can’t win a natty at perennially loaded UConn with the greatest WBB coach since Pat Summitt?

I’ve never been sold on her, sorry. Just don’t think she’s fun to watch. Efficient but boring.

Well, you have to win plenty of games that matter to get to the FF as Uconn did again last season. The fact that they did so with all of their injuries last year and having to start two freshman was pretty amazing to most fans. PB had to play three diff positions and carry the team to that final four, which to me was one of the better season performances in a long while. She will be drafted first for many reasons and her efficiency is one of those reasons but far from the only reason. Since her freshman season she has been one of if not the best players in the game when healthy, regardless of her team’s injury nightmares. She will go down as one of the best ever in the game, rightfully so imo.

As far as her being clutch, her entire career is filled with clutch shots and performances. Most fans would take her above anyone else in the game for a last shot, I know I would. She is $.

Real slop fest for KY and Louisville so far. Amoore is just too small and doesn't have the speed to compensate. Tons of t.o.s fm the trap, she'll struggle against us.

Have to be happy for Teoni Key. She was absolutely wasted at NC.

KY is claiming a sell out and there's even a good crowd of butts in seats. Good for them.

Kentucky 27 points at halftime.
Embarrassing 1st half performance or nah?

Quality opponent so I’d say “nah”

But I will say I’m not impressed with either of these teams early in the season. Offensively they are just mediocre.

Amoore has been really cold from 3 to start the season. Kentucky’s success is going to hinge a lot on her so that has to get better or they might be in trouble in the SEC. She’s only 19% from deep on the season and takes a lot of them.

Amoore is going to get the bejeeze trapped out of her in the SEC. She’s going to have double digit t.o.s here.

KY has some very nice players and their frontcourt is very long w Silva, Strack, Hassett and Key. But they’ve got lots of work to do.

Same for Louisville. Very nice young players but really rough around the edges.

Yes I maintain Amoore is about to have a rude awakening in the SEC. She’s just too small and too predictable. Just got swatted on that last play, Cochran made her look like a middle schooler.

To me she’s a lot of hype from her coach and benefitted from teams heavily collapsing on Liz Kitley for her entire career. Now that teams aren’t having to collapse on a super talented post player she is having trouble getting her shot.

Truly don’t think she is an elite PG, she would be much better off the ball, yes she passes well but she turns it over like crazy too.

Observation but Kentucky has NO BENCH. None.

The freshman that come off the bench are nowhere close to ready for the big time. If you get them in a little bit of foul trouble they are going to be in a huge pickle. Especially their guards.

Look for almost every team to attack Amoore, she’s been foul prone in the past, if you tag her with two quick ones….sitting duck.

Kentucky looks like they are a tall but slow team and there's nothing about Louisville that really stands out.

This is true.

Neither team is better than Tennessee right now.

If this Louisville’s freshman class is ready to play which they have showed in some spots early in the season then there’s a lot to look forward to in Tennessee #1 recruiting class.

Kentucky looking like they’re gonna pull it out. Not impressed be either team though. Kentucky is big, slow, inefficient and has no bench.

Louisville is just under talented, bad offense, mediocre defense. Walz has really lost his touch the last couple years.

Uh oh tie ballgame 28 seconds remaining. Kentucky went to the line and bricked 2 free throws that could have pretty much sealed the deal.

Also I can see why our staff passed on Dazia Lawrence. I think she really wanted to come to Tennessee but she just doesn’t bring much of anything on either end.

Amoore just got her 3 blocked, I maintain she is going to really struggle with the length and defensively physicality in the SEC night in and night out. She’s not built for it.
