Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Neither of these teams should be ranked in the Top 25.

I agree. I think us and Michigan are two teams that should be ranked who are not. It’s going to be interesting seeing the top 25 evolve the next 6 weeks. I think it’s way off at the moment.

Iowa should also be ranked imo. They are sans Clark but still look very good to me. Her celebrity helped them recruit some better athletes the last couple seasons.

I'm so petty for this, but I wanted Louisville to win so that UK's first-year-in-the-SEC coach Brooks would take this (and hopefully more) loss well before OUR first-year-in-the-SEC coach Caldwell loses a game.

I've got my hopes that Kim, at season's end, will be talked about as the most successful new coach in the SEC.

New Coach at a P5 school!

Amoore is going to get the bejeeze trapped out of her in the SEC. She’s going to have double digit t.o.s here.

KY has some very nice players and their frontcourt is very long w Silva, Strack, Hassett and Key. But they’ve got lots of work to do.

Same for Louisville. Very nice young players but really rough around the edges.
You don’t think small guards can succeed in the Sec?

In the grand scheme of things I don’t think this is a big win for Kentucky on the season but it is a HUGE win for their program. Louisville has owned this in-state rivalry the last several years, going on a decade. This was one their fanbase really needed.
Rivalry games are often not pretty, you look for the team that will finish it with a W though.

Top games of the day for me today are going to be NC State/TCU along with Duke/SD State. I think those will both be excellent games.

Stanford/Indiana could be decent as well but I see Stanford controlling that one even though they are on the road. Indiana really just doesn’t have the roster to compete this season.

Same for Texas/DePaul and UCLA/Arkansas. A year ago those would have been good games but DePaul and Arkansas just don’t have the roster they used to.

I'm thinking TCU can take that game at home against NC St. will certainly be checking in on that one.

That’s my thought as well. They matchup well, NC State always tends to struggle early in the season. Sometimes they get it going, like last season. Sometimes they don’t.

I expected Rivers to take a big step forward for them this year and she just hasn’t. So far she’s been a no show this season.

Should be a really good guard matchup both teams are guard heavy.

Different topic but I think Donovyn Hunter made a terrible mistake going to TCU. She would have done so much better somewhere like Stanford or Indiana that runs a lot of sets.

Whaaaaaa??? That really IS surprising. I'll have to watch that one later. I'm checking out at least the first half of the Vols v. Austin-Peay game.

I’m watching NC State and TCU right now. It’s been a track meet so far.

Neither team shooting the ball very well but getting good looks.

Welp, time to switch back over to women's games. The Vols are killing A-P and even the sparse crowd at FCC doesn't give a crap. It looks and sounds pretty dead in there today.

Belmont is giving Ohio State a game!
