Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Maybe it was just one of those days when a team (Duke) catches some magic.

I didn't see the game, unfortunately. Anyone get a sense about who in this country might capable of brnging Beers' scoring down a little? Seems like she always dominates.

Ole Miss making me eat my words. Came out of halftime inspired. UConn is stunned at the moment

You'd think you'd know better than to open your big mouth with bold gametime comments as often as they come back and bite you in the butt! 😂🤣😂🤣

I tend to keep my own big mouth shut about these things because, inevitably, any comments I make right before or during games never age well. 😅

UCLA...I would think

I think you let her get hers. It’s players like Verhulst and Vann you have to shut down on the perimeter. Don’t give them the looks and Beers can score 30 and they’ll lose by 20 due to poor defense.

Texas will have the size to match her in the middle in the SEC. Outside of that most teams have gone smaller in the last couple years.

I’d like to see us force her to defend on the perimeter and take her off the bounce. She doesn’t have the foot speed and will foul Spearman.

Amoore has been terrible this season. Have to wonder if she is gimpy or what? Not the same player.

If she doesn’t come around I maintain Kentucky is cooked in the SEC.

They are another team that matches up with Beers though. Strack and Silva can both check her.

Auriemma is probably already quietly having his team work at least a little every day on some specific thing that will help them beat Tennessee. Guarantee you he will devote extra, EXTRA practice hours to ensuring Kim's first game against him is a loss. To him, personally/emotionally, that game will be the most important one on their non-con schedule.

Yeah he would never admit it but he plans extra for that one I’m sure.

Back in the day a couple of times his players let it slip that every day in practice his mantra was "You won't beat Tennessee if you keep doing that" or "If we're going to beat Tennessee..."

It still IS important to him, but now he overdoes it on the downplaying of it, which lets everyone know he still has a special hate for Tennessee. lol

Q3 was one of the worst I have seen UConn play in quite some time. Something like 11 TOs in that quarter. Disgusting stuff. Paige put up some great buckets but she was the one turning it over the most in the 3rd. (EDIT: Just listened to the radio interview with her post-game and she admitted she was to blame for a lot of the poor ball protection/TOs in Q3).

Azzi got back into the swing of things quickly though. Good game for her.

Still not overly impressed with Chen. Just inconsistent. She makes some great plays and then follows it up with some just absolutely braindead plays.

Ah, well.

PaperClip is on the floor constantly. If they defend her like they did Clark in the W she won’t survive.
09, “paper clip” is one of the purest shooters in the game and dishes the ball well. 29 smooth points tonight. She will be the top pick in the W next draft.
