Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Lots to build on for Minnesota here. Just couldn’t slow Maryland down enough but they played with a lot of heart. Got screwed by the officials a lot today imo.

Not a team anyone is going to want to see in the Big 10 tourney or NCAA. They have the pieces to beat anyone just like us.

Ok state and Utah not ready for the moment. Both recently moved into the top 25 and are laying eggs against unranked teams tonight.

Baylor, in Utah’s defense, has a great roster. They are just really poorly coached. Utah usually shoots the leather off the ball but not hitting their threes tonight and that’s killer for them.

Losing to 4-12 Houston is a bad look for OK State no matter how you spin it. A lot of time in both but low scoring so outcome not likely to change at this rate.

As usual, spoke too soon. A team like Utah that can shoot the 3 is never out of a game. Rattled off an 11-0 run in about 48 seconds took the lead but back down 1 to end the third.

Utah coach not going to get it done. They should have left him interim and made an actual hire. Sorry but they are making some really questionable personnel decisions. Trying to defend Vonleh in the paint with 5’10” 150lb guards isn’t gonna do it. At least need to done down since Baylor isn’t a super 3 point shooting team. They can’t defend her 1-1, only difference down the stretch here.

Utah Baylor just two really poorly coached teams trading poor decisions tonight.

Not sure what Baylor is doing with Matharu. She’s an excellent player and defender but they continue to play Andrews, an awful defender.

Just a question. Are you some sort of coaching expert? It seems that any game you see your comment is that the coach of the losing team stinks, and any team that plays bad has a poor coach. Excuse me, but nobody can say a coach is bad unless you watch that team every day. One game does not make a bad coach, and it doesn't make a great coach. There are some good coaches that can't get good players because of the schools lack of commitment, and if a team gets great players doesn't mean they are a great coach. I know that your MO is just reading what others say and you take it as your own, but sometimes it gets a little tiring when you make comments that are off the wall and don't make sense. If you don't watch a team at least 6 times you have no idea if the coach is bad or good.

She is a bad coach even though she won that coaches award at the Dream. All of her teams are medicore. Then she fires two of her coaches that gave her the best chance to get players.

This is a response on another forum regarding SC's outlook for 2025-26 - "The window is closing"
"I wouldn't say that. Edwards is going to be bonafide star. Best prospect since A'ja IMO. You willl have a nucleus up front of Watkins, Kitts, and Edwards for another year. Also, Tac will be almost two years removed from her knee injury. She still can be brought along at her own pace. ....and you willl probably still have Dauda for another year for depth. In the backcourt you still have Fulwiley, Tessa, and Maddie at the very least. Finally, you are bringing in McDowell on the wing. Big wing at 6'2" and will be a prospect at least on Bree's level. We will go from insanely deep to very deep. It will probably help the team morale wise because everyone will be needed to play. Remember, we just had an undefeated, national championship team carrying a 10 woman roster."

Bracketology: Lady Vols need to find a way to get a 2 or 3 seed instead of the 4
I think three seed will go to SEC numbrer 4. You or z okie would be number 4 as things look. But 4 seed looks quite doable for SEC number 5 if you can’t jump okie - and still ensures home for the first two tournament games.

I see it as :

1 seed:
SEC regular season champ:
BIg Ten champ
ACC champ
SEC or Big Ten # 2

2 seed
SEC or Big Ten #2
UConn
SEC #3
ACC #2

3 seed
big 12 Champ
big ten # 3
?????????
SEC # 4

4 seed
Big 12 number 2
SEC # 5
Big Ten Number 4
????????

There will be a couple portal transfers this time around. Dawn will go after some help.
