Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

North Carolina playing their first “quality” opponent in Boston College and struggling with the increased intensity already. Not able to get Utsby the ball facing an organized defense.

Very undersized in the paint, even against a Bc team that has minimal size.

They lead the country in margin of victory but are down to BC. Just don’t think they’re that good. Watched a couple of their other games and it was not possible to gauge them because the competition sucked. Have been high in the rebounding number but getting beat on the glass by a small BC team so far.

I hope BC beats them just don't like the schedule they have played looks like they are trying to rope a dope everybody into thinking they are a top team. I think the ACC will more than likely turn them into an NIT team or at least a very low seed in the tourney.

Exactly. Mentioned the other day that I really think them, Colorado and a couple others are primed for really long losing streaks to start conference play. Played really weak non-con schedules and haven’t been at all tested.

With the increased parity in the game there is no reason to not have at least a couple really good mid-major programs on your schedule.

NCs “best” win is probably their 82-76 win over Minnesota who is no good. Minnesota will likely be getting a new coach next season.

Banghart might be following Wahlen out the door. She's going to struggle in the ACC until she realizes she has bring a physical post presence and play them down in the low post instead of running five outs.

NC making a comeback here. BC made the mistake of trying to just run the clock. Stopped playing aggressive and got really stagnant on offense with NC ramped up their pressure.

Yeah she can recruit guards…but even with the players they have out they wouldn’t help where they are deficient. She’s going to have to have a really good center in the next two classes or she’ll be out.

Hatchell always had a great post presence. Pringle and Larkins come to mind.

Texas will now play San Diego this afternoon at 3. Good they were able to find a last minute opponent.

Officially starts the debate of what to do with teams like Arizona now. I truly think missing this game should hurt them. It should count the same as a loss in the rankings, NET etc even if they don’t have to take an actual forfeit.

This was going to be 10-0 Arizona’s first real test after an early season two point victory over Louisville. We played the #3 team and lost and guarantee you that will end up hurting us more than AZ not playing at all.
No team should be positively affected or negatively affected if not playing. It’s the teams around them that should be impacted either way from their games. Movement depends on if a loss was neutral, bad or “good”, same for wins.

It should absolutely affect seeding and rank IMO. Totally ridiculous for teams to sit in the top 10 when not playing. Maybe have an asterisk category and move them out until they resume play and bring them back in at 25?

Thinking of situations like USF where they were ranked #13 or something last season whilst not playing for 6 weeks or so

I was only talking about a game or two at most, certainly not an extended period.

UNC was down by 15 in the fourth, won 76-73.

BC totally imploded. Not very good coaching honestly. They started trying to run time at 5 minutes up 10. That’s just not enough. Needed to continue to play aggressive like they did all day. Was ready to see a NC loss. Didn’t play well at all today.

My bet is they’re about .500 in the ACC. Gonna get spanked by a few teams here soon.

She was going have Teonni Key playing at the 5 at times if she hadn't tore her ACL.

BC totally choke by playing stall ball.

Teonni doesn’t solve that problem for them IMO. She’s a perimeter player, a lot like Wolfenbarger. Don’t think she could hold them down defensively as a freshman. Super talented young lady though. Still hope she would like to play with big sis….

And yes BC gave that one away, hate seeing teams do that.
