Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

The rule in the SEC this season is play or forfeit regardless of covid so any team that can't play will have a loss. Seems like a harsh rule, but it is what it is and we'll see how it affect the race.

For the sake of everyone’s sanity this is the best/easiest way to do it. Trying to re-schedule them just isn’t feasible. And teams doing well with protocols and not having to cancel shouldn’t be punished for other teams issues.

Will be interesting to see how the committee views those “wins” though.

I am curious, do you know if teams find a mutual time; are they allowed to make it up? Or is the forfeit permanent?

The way I understand the rule you can either play the day game is scheduled or you lose. I noticed that today the NFL is going to cease testing vaccinated players as often so they will be eligible to play even if they are positive for covid. I guess if you don't test and mild symptoms you don't know. Most fully vaccinated usually just have cold symptoms and sometimes not even that in a lot of cases. Unvaccinated will still have to be tested on a very regular basis and players that test positive go on a no play list. The way I understand the data fully vaccinated are having less severe symptoms with covid than with people vaccinated with the flu. Also the death rate for vaccinated is not higher than flu.

Sources: Vaccinated NFLers may face less testing

It's true. From "The Advocate":
Meanwhile, Mulkey said forward Hannah Gusters was suspended indefinitely “until I decide when she will come back.”

“We miss her, but we’re still pretty good without her," Mulkey said. "That gives opportunities for other people to play.”

Gusters has not dressed out since last Sunday’s game against Texas Southern.

Is it true that Hannah Gusters from LSU has been suspended indefinitely ?.

If so that is big news. They will still be very tough but Aifuwa will have to stay on the floor. They get really small really fast without Gusters. With her they are one of the bigger teams in the league.

Given the time of year you wonder if it’s academics. COVID and readjusting to the classroom and a new school is likely very difficult.

If that quote is accurate I love it. Kim has banished her until she behaves I guess. 😂

Yeah, I will be watching Lville vs UConn, should be very interesting. Docharme (sp?) is starting to develop, wonder what she looks like vs a top ten team today. She has the look of a player close to breaking out imo.
Maybe she is developing thus far not showing that much. Hopefully she goes something like 0 for 10 today.

Texas will now play San Diego this afternoon at 3. Good they were able to find a last minute opponent.

Officially starts the debate of what to do with teams like Arizona now. I truly think missing this game should hurt them. It should count the same as a loss in the rankings, NET etc even if they don’t have to take an actual forfeit.

This was going to be 10-0 Arizona’s first real test after an early season two point victory over Louisville. We played the #3 team and lost and guarantee you that will end up hurting us more than AZ not playing at all.
