oooo do tell... and someone in here said all we do is talk $#!+ over here
Oh, tons of stuff, tons of stuff. 2000-2005 was the worst period, I think because we were still the two titans of the game back then, but they were riding high on Taurasi. Their posters said lots of different things, but the most galling stuff was their acidic contempt for Summitt. There were a few reasonable people, but a lot were absolutely awful. They had one poster, named Olde Coach or something like that, whose word was gold to that board, and that poster was a constant stream of nasty comments about Pat and Tennessee. Let's see ... Summitt was washed up, would never be a threat to Connecticut, would never bring great recruits to Tennessee again, Auriemma had lapped her, the game had passed her by, etc. etc. Now no one in their right mind would believe that for a second, but oh how their masses flocked to his posts, adored his words. And lots of them felt that way. 2000-2003 really emboldened them. But what do you know? Tennessee signed that 2003 class, and Connecticut missed the Final Four three straight years in a row, and like magic, all of a sudden they were almost decent for a while. Almost. Then Maya Moore happened and that was the singularity, so to speak.
Still, to me, the fact they could never even begin to acknowledge Summit's abilities or her skill as a coach was what really got me. I mean, sure, we hate Auriemma too, we despise him as much as they despised Summitt, but on some level I think Tennessee fans knew (and know) he's a good coach. Because he is. But Pat? Lord no. She was nothing, if you listened to them. She was a legacy holdover from an older time in the sport, and was not a good coach in any modern sense of the word. She was obsolete in the new basketball world order, according to them. Meh. Like I said. If that could power rockets, my rocket would go very, very far.
