Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

By the time conference tourneys are over the brackets will change a good bit from where they are now. Parity is showing up as it should with the depth of talent across the board. Nobody is safe, and that is a good thing for WBB. If PB is back 100% by tourney time and the rest of her teammates get/stay healthy I suspect Uconn is the team to beat. So many pure shooters on that team, and the others know their roles now. Don't want any of that tbh, they will make some really good teams look silly IMO if all that comes to fruition.

Defense and rebounding wins championships they looked like the best team last March until Arizona came with the Defense! IMO the teams that locks down and keep the opposition from doing what they like will win the tournament.

Could work again. Uconn had PB last year as a sharp shooter. I consider Fudd and Ducharme sharp shooters this year as well. Not many D's can cover 3 killer shooters.

Awesome. Now Tennessee's signature win is all the way up to 5th in the Big 12, still behind all those "overrated" teams...

Every SEC victory is a signature win, especially on the Road. As for Texas, they're ranked 14, and we're ranked 12. We also have wins over #21 Georgia, and # 23 VA. Tech, as well as some other tough teams. That's not bad for the third year of the rebuild. And we aren't done yet.

Absolutely, just like you can easily cherry pick the top teams in the conference to call "way overrated" while stopping short of the team behind them because... well, ya know.

Glad the point wasn't lost on you...

You're attacking a coach in year three of a rebuild for not beating the elites of the sport. Irrational and unfair. Motive?

Then make them play defense and see if they can stay on the court. Great shooters, yes. Great defenders, not so much.

If they outscore their defenders it’s trouble.
That's true...but if they get in foul trouble trying to play defense, then you don't have to worry about their offense. Ducharme in particular is foul prone, and Azzi struggles to keep her person in front of her.

I think SC, Stanford and even Louisville has the defense to cover them. Also going to need a low post scoring threat to balance perimeter shooting and I don’t see that on the roster.

ONO and Jorka and Edwards are a strong 3 player rotation in the post and 4 spot, without question. I’m not sure any of those 3 (I’m a SC fan obviously) teams can match their shooting fire power if PB is back and in form by tourney.

Meh. Personally I don’t see it. Knee injuries are very tricky. PB lateral movement both offensively and defensively will be in question when it’s time to play elite physical teams. Most of her scoring came off back cuts, short curls and high screening actions and those all involve a lot of cutting. Also as a SC fan you don’t think the bench play has stepped up enough to offset the emergence of Juhasz, Ducharme and Fudd? Its as if you feel like what they’re doing will be unstoppable and I don’t see it that way.

Of course Page Bueckers is back. This is how Satan works. o_O
Maybe! in about 3 weeks we will see. I'm hoping she can use the BE tournament to learn how to pay in a brace and shake off some rust. We might not see last year's Paige until next year.

Florida up 43-29 vs Ark at halftime.

We need Florida to lose but they’re looking like the second best team in the league.

Yeah they’re looking good again tonight. Thought they were off track against Auburn.

Arkansas is definitely missing Daniels. She was the engine for their offense. They need Ramirez to get going. Wish she’d torch everyone else like she always does us lol.

I agree not having Daniels is a huge loss for Arkansas. She is literally their engine. Spencer is good for a freshman and will be a baller in this league, but she’s no Daniels at this point.

Agreed, Spencer is definitely more natural off ball. Daniels is a born and bred point guard. Has been a key part of their offense since she was a true freshman. If they have her back and healthy for the SEC tourney teams better watch out.

Neighbors is a little like Vic Schaefer in that his teams tend to round into form around tournament time.

UNC beats Louisville 66-65.

Surely overrated Banghart doesn't have a better win than any of Kellie's this season?
