I mean the committee is wary of that non-conference schedule NC played. The NET ranking uses margin of victory as one of their main criteria. Luckily that is not the only thing the committee is using. SOS is playing a huge part and RPI is still a factor. Your quad 1 and 2 wins are extremely important.

I'm curious to see how this impacts men's basketball and football. My opinion is that there isn't enough interest in women's basketball right now for it to become much of a factor that would require regulation.

Does anyone know how NIL affects any rules for student athlete payments from boosters?

Yep, even pro sports have a draft to try to spread talent, but nil has no rules at all.

Football is going to be a much larger problem than basketball and women's basketball may never be a problem. When you see Texas A&M telling recruits that all offensive linemen are getting a 50 thousand dollar NIL deal then that is where you see it getting out of hand. If Boosters own any type of business they are free to offer anyone any amount of money they desire to offer for them to use their name and likeness for that business. When you have millions as hobby money and you are a big supporter of a team then you can recruit with it.

Yes well I'm taking the attitude if we can't beat Alabama then we don't need to host. That dismal game we played down there with that matador defense and allowing them to shoot wide open threes plus getting to the line and missing 11 free throws just is really pathetic. I do want the team to host and hope they want to put out the effort to host if not we'll go on the road.

Other than Horston and Green being injured nothing about us playing Alabama in Nashville is a detriment to us. We'll have the most fans there playing a team that has played two games in a row. This being their third game we should have an energy advantage as well. I'll have to call out the team if they lose today cause in order to do so it will have to be a really poor effort offensively and defensively.

Here are the numbers for NC waiting on the NCAA Tourney selections.

Q1 and 2 12 wins and 6 losses. sos 55 rpi 17 NET 6 that looks like a five or six seed depending on what happens the rest of the way. That 55 sos is their big downer.

It is gonna be a great day of women's basketball. Whoop whoop. No work for me today!! VT got is off to a good start with that win of over-rated North Carolina. Now if Arkansas can shoot lights out this second half and knock off South Carolina we would be in the business (probably won't happen). LSU only got by Kentucky by 9 at home and Kentucky is playing much better right now than they did early. That could be a good game and then Maryland-Indiana are going right now. That one can be detrimental for the top 16 seedings. I will be flipping stations all day. Love this time of year!

Next big game for me is Ga. Tech and Notre Dame. Need Notre Dame to lose. Indiana vs Maryland someone has to lose doesn't really matter that much to me.

Arkansas played a tough game against Missouri just yesterday. Being well rested helps everything including 3 point shooting, but they are battling.

Actually if we go far in this tournament, our in the paint scoring will be beneficial to us.

GO Georgia Tech and Indiana (not a Maryland fan), plus the way Charlie put them down along with Tennessee, makes me instantly for Indiana. 😀

Notre Dame losing would really blow up Charlie Cremes' idea of who should and should not be hosting. With how biased he is, it seems to give me great pleasure watching his picks lose lol.

Maryland above us loses, Indiana behind us wins.

My guess is a win over Alabama would move us above Maryland. (3 Seed)

A loss would let Indiana move over us and Maryland would stay above us (4-5 Seed)

Maryland has very few top 25 wins this year. They played a challenging schedule, but i only think they beat 3 teams ranked in the top 25.

MD went 5-7 vs. Top 25 teams. 5 of those losses were to top 10 teams and the other 2 were to #11 and #14. UT went 5-4 vs. Top 25.

Who were those 5 top 25 wins? I went back through their win-loss schedule and see they beat Baylor, Indiana, Iowa & Ohio State. I missed Baylor the first time around. As of today, they now have 8 losses to top 25 teams.
