'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson (LSU)

Salary cap cant come soon enough IMO.

The current "system" is ridiculous and untenable. The proposed SEC salary cap of $22M per year needs to be adopted by all the P4 schools and made solid. With all contracts submitted to the NCAA/governing body and adhered to. Duke is paying a QB not as talented as Nico $4M a year. Thats insane. I wont earn $4M in my lifetime and I make decent money at low 6 figures. Theres no professional league in the US where athletes are all free agents twice a year and can switch teams like underwear. Its stupid, and its going away soon. One way or another. Fans, coaches, everyone resents the bullcrap thats going on right now...and many will lose interest if it continues. If we wanted to watch spoiled athletes with no commitment, we would watch the NFL.

We need the salary cap and some rules in place ASAP. Also...the FIRST team that gets caught paying players MORE under the table ABOVE the salary cap needs to get death penalty level punishment. Its gonna happen. aTm, Bama, Texas...SOMEBODY Is gonna hit the cap and STILL be paying players more in an attempt to win it all. They need to be kicked out the P4 for a few years when caught. Immediately. 2 years no football at all. Period. All the kids on their team can hit the portal. Send the message from Day1 that the salary cap is unbreakable and anyone who attempts to get around it will be humiliated and temporarily banned...which means the coaches AND the AD would be fired. Thats how you get the ADs to police their programs even if the coaches and boosters will not. Their heads are on the chopping block too. Anything else is a sham and will be cheated from Day 1.
You do realize that is just what schools will pay and NIL is still separate. Schools have to divide that money between all programs and believe me the women will get a nice share. So NIL will still be a big part of sports until a salary cap is implemented but to do that the players have to become employees and sports our private. It will become even uglier before it gets better. In CHRIST Alone

I know money is the answer but how can these kids look at Auburn, Florida and LSU and be like yeah this is the place to go
There’s recency bias and kids that are being paid well also believe that they’re the missing link to turning things around. We sucked or were mediocre while these kids grew up, and these schools are tossing around blank checks while we don’t seem to be.

Heard
Karic
Satterwhite
Moe
Sanders

Should be better than 2024
I respectfully disagree, Heard was one of our worst graded players, Karic is average at best, we dont know what we’re getting with Satterwhite at C, same could be said for Moe, and Sanders is a true freshman who we will definitely see some growing pains with

K, same could be said for whoever we get out of the portal too. Everything is an unknown. We've got to trust the coaches. I do know that we can't grab every kid out of the portal because they may be better than what we have.

I heard the same thing somewhere before.

Right now our oline is looking like

LT- Heard - got better as year went on but was inconsistent
LG- Karic- quietly good year imo but not a difference maker
C - Satterwhite (never played) or Moe
RG- Sham (never played) or Moe
RT- Sanders - True freshman but obviously talented

Lot of inexperience but talent is there, have to hope our elite Oline coach can develop them

I’ve been calling for us to play Elarbee recruits but after watching Ohio state and UGA games, we really need top talent on oline and im not sure we have that across all 5 positions
