'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson

Or you just move on to the next one or go with what’s already on the roster. He looks like a solid player, but I don’t think he makes or breaks the season.
Perhaps. We are replacing 3 interior players with how many snaps? Makes a lot of sense to get a plug and play type player.

Would really like to get a big win, for Spyre, staff, and team.

If you don’t want to play the high school players they signed then we need to stop freaking out about high school recruiting. Yes there are some good players in the portal but I think alot of fans get infatuated with every player in the portal like they are a sure thing

Rightfully so. It exposed what we really are. We're not as close to being elite as we thought before that game.
You’re being bipolar, man. You set yourself up for this.

We’re neither as bad as you’re acting or as amazing as you were acting before the Ohio State loss. It’s gonna be okay.

And Lampley the last 2 years. And Davis in 2021. Heupel has been doing it since he arrived at UT.

And the funny thing is, it always goes on long enough for Heupel to walk out and “check on” the player. Then, as soon as Heupel says something to him (probably, “okay, that’s long enough”), the “injured” player gets up.
Coach is a miracle healer

Ohio St was by far the best team we played this season. Even when we played Georgia it was a 1 score game late in the 4th quarter.

Exactly. Ohio State exposed how far we are from being a true national title contender. The SEC is down this year which gave us the mirage we were better than we really were. We need to substantially improve the talent on this team if we ever want to return to the top of college football.

I thought we were a national title contender before that game. Now I know we're not. I never said we were trash. We're just not as close to our ultimate goal which is to become national champions as we thought. And I think most people agree with that sentiment. Most thought we had a good chance to beat Ohio State and make a run before the game. Now we know that we were never that close.

My point is if we want to win a national title we have to improve greatly. It's not a small improvement as most thought before the Ohio State game. We have a huge gap we need to close if we want to beat a team like Ohio State again in the playoffs next year.

Some of those same fans get "infatuated" with hi-school OL that are rarely ready to compete in major college ball. It's very convenient for them actually as they don't have to coach, teach and turn these KIDS into the offensive linemen BEASTS they need to be to contribute at a position which is generally regarded as the hardest positon to "make the jump" to from the high-school level..

They only have to critique them on VolNation when things don't go the way they think they should've...

Love this place!... 😎👍

Sanders will be starting at RT.
So Elarbee has failed to develop Warren Bennett or Jesse Perry or Brian Grant or any of the other high school players he's recruited the last couple of years to play RT. And apparently, he's not developed anyone who can play guard from his high school recruits either. So his one high school development success is Satterwhite? Not sure we can credit him with "development" success on Sanders if he's going to start immediately. Other than being Heupel's good friend, why is it Elarbee still has a job? At this point, make him an offensive analyst and hire a real OL coach. We need a guy that can actually coach players up.

So many of these posts. Heupel’s first class were only sophomores this year and SOPHOMORES RARELY START IN THE SEC, while we’ve had more experienced guys. Satterwhite, Warren, Perry, Sham, etc. will all play, but it’s not an indictment that they haven’t played yet.

In fact, our (freshmen) recruits played more snaps than 10/11 other playoff teams during the regular season.

Moe/Thompson grade out as 2 of the best IOL Heupel will have had here. Great gets.
Thank you!

You could post this 10 times a day in every thread that talks about OL recruiting and some still wouldn’t get it. It’s wild that many on here are adamant that we MUST START multiple freshman and sophomores on the OL or it’s a complete failure by the staff. I don’t get it

Ehhh. I disagree. Go back and watch the OSU film. Karic and Heard were awful. Maybe not as bad as Spraggins and Campbell but Heard's play was not at the level that it needs to be . Im hopeful Karic's quest for another year of eligibility is denied
I didn’t watch him closely but the times I did notice Karic he was getting worked.
