'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson (LSU)

CGE either needs to start developing guys, recruiting better or hit the portal better

He’s got David sanders and wright and that’s all he can say right now
One guy develop
One big recruit
And Cade mays who was already good
Heard has potential but if the guys he recruits don’t play then fire his ass bc he’s not developing talent
Cooper Mays was unproven. Mostly a trick play TE. Did pretty damn good with that blank slate.

If you want to think that that’s fine but majority of transfers are collective driven. The issue is we continue to have to go to the portal on the OL, because we have zero development there
Yet on this very thread there’s panic and frustration over a PORTAL player. When are we supposed to DEVELOP the four stars in last season’s class?

If the coaches want him and can get him...great. Otherwise, I'm ready to see some young guys get a chance. That'll prove if CGE is a good coach or not. I feel about the same way as I did our DBs last season...ready to see what a youth movement would provide. It really does feel like this staff over-values experience just a little at times. Sometimes you've got to dumb things down and get your most talented guys out there.

Maybe they can’t at those spots either but aren’t afraid to upgrade talent in those spots in the portal.

Both can be true

Damn so they can’t develop:

- edge (3)
- DL
- CB (2)
- punter
- QB
- IOL (2 if they get Thompson)
- TE
- WR (3)

Bc that’s who they’ve taken in the portal.

Lol
You got me
Cooper not cade but who else besides those 2 guys then
Spraggins and Davis were on the roster…nothing beyond that as far as performance. Spackled productivity out of them and Cade playing out of position at RT. I respect any coach who does well AGAINST the Vols at another stop…which Ellarbee did at Mizzou with scrubs. My chief quarrel with our offensive coaches as a whole is reliance on TRUST over TALENT. I wish all of them could fast track in that regard. Prefer a player who outmatches their opponent physically over those that don’t but UNDERSTANDS why.

Man I agree with all that to the 100th power. Both sides of the ball guilty there.
