Not LV - but have you seen the UConn score

UCon did not have a choice in picking their conference because their athletics program in general SUCKS.

101 consecutive wins against horrible basketball teams is nothing to brag about, regardless of who is doing the bragging.

True enough Geno's conference is inferior in talent and team...But he doesn't lose when the competition level rises either. He does play the top 10ers' and destroys them too.

We play cream puffs and whip them profusely, but when the level of competition rises, we go Dr Jeckyll/Mr Hyde.

I refuse to put this on players. Because as a coach, I do see effort on the floor from those kids, but I don't see what I need to see from the bench.

While that may be true there were also quite a few wide open missed shots in the Tennessee v South Carolina game the other night. No one is immune.

Cincy is not even close to Power 5 quality. UCONN have had less than a hand full of scares in that league. I believe they are 101 and 0 since joining the AAC. Except for UCONN, and to a smaller degree South Florida, the other women’s basketball programs are a joke. I would be willing to bet that UCONN is the only school with a 5 Star. This is one of the reasons Genno try’s to stack his non conference games with good teams from power five conferences. He knows that the cupcake factory will provide little if any competition.

Actually, if you look at Baylor they only played Texas in the top 10 - and for a top 3 ranked team, even a number 7 isn't a real threat... all but UCLA of their out of conference games are very bottom dwellers...to the point that I wanted to watch one of their games this year and could only find the Texas game. And even that wasn't so exciting with sloppy play by both teams.

Geno is on another level. GOAT. He has done everything faster than Pat Summitt has.

Too bad he cheats.

No matter what Genno has done or how fast he does it, Pat is women’s basketball. Without her leadership and commitment to women’s basketball, there is no Genno.

UConn athletics teams have won 22 national championships - 17 in this century. UT athletic teams have won 21 - 6 of them in this century.

It was all about football.

Are you trying to Fool the Naive into actually believing that UCon athletics are historically Superior to the University of Tennessee?

I am still having trouble understanding why and how throwing mud at other programs does anything to improve the state of Lady Vols' basketball.

I'm not trying to fool anyone. I just wanted to point out that UConn has a very successful athletic program. In addition to winning more national championships, they field more NCAA D1 teams (20) than UT (18).

That's not intended to be a shot at UT but simply to point out that ignorance of the facts can make a person look foolish.

UCon athletics is a JOKE. Maybe someday, in the far far future, they will actually have a real football program, and their women's basketball teams will play in a legitimate conference against real competition.

You and others can try and Spin the facts any way you want, but the competition in the American Conference is horrible, and Everyone knows it.

Maybe UCon should upgrade their football program so their women's basketball team can play in a legitimate conference.

The University of Tennessee CHOSE to be a founding member of the Southeastern Conference in 1932.

Yes, I hate UCon.

All of the UCon worshipers should move here or go to hell:

Wouldn't make a difference. The northeast doesn't care about college football, it's an NFL market. The ACC and BIG XII both crunched the numbers and came to the same conclusion. UConn athletics would be just another mouth to feed. Sooner or later the BIG will regret adding Rutgers.

Not a Geno or UConn fan but they have set a standard of excellence that the rest of women’s basketball have aspired to attain. I think wanting to topple UCONN has helped grown the game as well. That ND vs UCONN rivalry was one for the books and now you’re getting ones like oregon vs Stanford , Baylor vs Texas , ND vs Louisville ...shoot even Mizzu vs SC.

I guess my question would be although UConn has a strong usually nonconference schedule I don’t understand how with their conference they always have a top 5 schedule lol... I just don’t understand any of those rankings. UCONNS athletics aren’t as strong as they have been but I wouldn’t call them a joke wouldn’t demean any student athlete like that.

You are 100% right.... TENN has a tremendous athletic program. Their football program dominated the SEC with a perfect conference record... 0-8. The men's BB program again has extended it's streak of Final Four appearances to 0 for-ever. The men's Football program has only made one less BCS bowl game than UCONN. The WBB program has been the one shining star in the athletics department but some on this site seem unable to accept their success because it doesn't include UCONN like results. Don't let UCONN's 4 MCBB National Championships in the last 20 years intimidate you... but Duke is the only other MCBB team with as many National Championships. And don't feel bad that the women's field hockey team has 4 less National Championships than UCONN. Enjoy your day in that little fantasy world in which you live.

At halftime of their conference semifinal, they lead Cincinnati By a score of 43 to 5.
How is that even possible?

If you supposed to beat a team by 100 then you beat them by 100, not struggle to win by 10. I think we all know the rest.

UT women are so undercoached I have literally grown to appreciate what UCONN does.

You can always list TENN's National Championships in the last 20 years and I'll be impressed. But that should be a short list. Have fun with it.

Yes, Stanford has won more NCAA titles than any other school. They also sponsor more varsity level sports than any other college or university in the country. Their athletic department is totally self-sufficiency and at the end of the 2013-14 school year gifted $20 million to the university.

And in somewhat related news, UConn Athletics, the Huskies fire their MBB coach.

Kevin Ollie Fired; UConn Claims 'Just Cause' In Dismissal Of Coach - Hartford Courant

In interesting comparison. UT hires HW to replace a legend. By all accounts HW is a really nice person and absolutely committed to UT Lady Vols basketball. Unfortunately, Lady Vols basketball struggles under her tutelage and may be approaching irrelevance,

UConn hires Kevin Ollie to replace legendary coach Jim Calhoun. By all accounts Ollie is a really nice person totally committed to UConn men's basketball. Unfortunately, the program has tanked under his leadership.

Don’t forget sports like fencing, sailing, gymnastics, beach volleyball and other schools have bowling, equestrian, ice hockey, etc. as you said just because it isn’t football or basketball doesn’t demean the work those athletes put into their sport.

The argument is over when the UCon worshipers use UCon Field Hockey and other irrelevant sports to try to win an UnWinnable argument.

Big 10 (they can't count - they have 14 schools) fans begin talking about academics when SEC schools are kicking their butts.

Tulsa
Temple
SMU
Tulane
Memphis
East Carolina
Wichita State
Houston
Cincinnati
Central Florida
South Florida
UCon Huskies

Congratulations UCon for winning 101 consecutive games against your Stellar conference opponents.

Baylor added acrobatics and tumbling plus equestrian to women's varsity sports approximately 10 years ago in order to achieve gender equity in respect to athletic scholarships. Each of these sports have their own governing bodies and are not obstructed by NCAA scholarship limits. There has been talks of late (3-4 years now) about adding at least one more women's sport outside of the NCAA.
