Not sure any longer

Capt Oblivious, read all of page 11 and tell me where I said something about your brother?
It aint there. You would argue with a fencepost man.
I simply hit the quote button on your post on pg 11 how and why someone else's shows up is not my problem. I have no idea why something from another poster on another page would show as your quote. Not sure why your seeing that.

When you quote someone, their quote is wrapped in (quote)(/quote) tags. If someone messes that up and you quote their post, it messes it up for your post. That's what happened in the line of quotes you quoted.

Thanks I guess, I have a headache now.

Coach Jones talks a very good game, says all the right things etc. But I gotta say that today some of the decisions that this staff has made has me scratching my head.

The normal excuses that most use to defend the staff aren't gonna work today.

The adjustments that are made at the half will be telling. We have an outside chance here.

I personally think your coach COACHED his butt off Saturday night. UT could have folded up shop, mentally, going into the second half but they didn't and they kept making plays against a UGA team that still had a couple of playmakers not headed for MRIs. He kept that teams head in the game when they could have easily have said "well, here we go again" .. as a Dawg fan, I was a little more than just nervous in the fourth.

If we're all talking about the same situation, CBJ let time run down while UGA had the ball b/c he didn't have faith that we would move the ball and get 1st downs. He didn't want to punt back to them with enough time to drive before the half and get another score.

In hindsight, it was the right call. We went 3-out and punted back to UGA before the half. They didn't have enough time to hurt us.
If that was his thought process and he really had no faith, then why run three pass plays? Why not just hand it off to the tailback three straight times or take a knee and let the clock run out?

OP suffered from premature menopause at half-time of the UT/UGA game, said some things that made him look ridiculous by the end of the game, caught heck and threatened someone at a biker bar. It's been an epic and wonderful thread to follow.

(Thank you for the compliments of our team and coach. Best of luck to your injured players. I hope they are back soon to brutalize Vandy later in the year.)

never said you did. I responded to your reply on page 11. Sorry but I don't see what your referring to.

It was a guarded compromise. Let the clock run down to assure that UGA won't kill you if they get the ball back. Try your best when you have the ball.

In any event, in hindsight it proved to be the right call. We did, in fact, have to punt the ball back. They did not, in fact, have time enough to turn the tide before half-time.

The problem I have with your premature emasculation of CBJ is that he is making decisions with a heck of a lot more insight to this team than you sofa-coaches do. I personally find it absolutely wonderful that you created this thread at half-time of a game that we were still in, and Coach made you look like a moron by the time the game was over.

Instead of trying to wriggle out of this thread by playing the victim card, own it, learn from it, and sit on your hands for at the least the duration of the games in the future.

yes he did in the second half. They made some adjustments and they coached to win. Going for it on those fourth downs took guts.

Yikes .. brutalize huh? Ummm, I know two of them won't be .. we'll see what we can do otherwise. Also, let me just sneak this in .. MARQUEZ NORTH IS THE REAL DEAL THAT I THOUGHT HE WOULD BE ON THE RECRUITING TRAIL

I'm not trying to wiggle out of anything. I stand by what I stated about the first half. I said the adjustments at half time would be telling and that we still had a chance.

But it wasn't just the no TO call. The third down call on the first drive, not pressing the slant, calling the defense late and not getting set, etc.

They coached their butts off in the second half. No doubt about it.

It was a thread started about the First Half.

Tell ya what, if you don't like a thread that I start why don't you just ignore it next time.

There is a butt load of stupid, idiotic stuff on the forum, I just ignore it because I'm not gonna insult someone on a forum.

Like I said, they are calling games with a lot more knowledge of their skillset/strength/weaknesses than you have access to.

That is rich, coming from the guy that had to apologize to the site owner for not managing his keyboard better, and had to try to explain how he just wanted to have a friendly beer with his good buddy baldbiker.

If Butch's intent was to run out the clock then why was he throwing the football?

In hindsight the timeout didn't matter since our offense was unable to move the ball, but based on the play calls, I can't agree that Butch was trying to run out the clock.

I think we've all seen otherwise.

The other poster can ignore the thread or you can realize that when you start a thread, you can't pick and choose the responses that are acceptable to you, especially when the title is the equivalent to someone throwing in the towel.

Let's just move on.

It could have been a guarded compromise I suppose.

I'm not sure I agree it was the "right call" just because we could not get a first down. If we get a first down and into FG territory and run out of time, is it still the right call?

With more time, maybe we could be more conservative with our play calling.

And just to clarify, I'm not saying it's the wrong call, just thinking out loud of what Butch's plan was there.

I think Butch didn't have a lot of confidence at that point, but was going to see if we may hit one for a big play and get into field goal position, and he still had his timeouts to stop the clock,if we didn't,he left UGA with no time to do any more damage...

at the time,I was wondering about it myself, but after thinking about it, that's the only rationale I could think of...and it worked out just exactly like that...

I don't necessarily disagree, Freak. By "right call", I mean it proved to not work out to our negative. The results proved out, I guess.

I'm not one to generally applaud "playing not to lose", but in this case I think Butch knows what he has in this team and had to on occasion base decisions on what would potentially hurt a fragile team the least.

The fact that he got us into OT with a #6 UGA team, tells me he was coaching his rear off. :)

Clearly Butch coached a great game, but you know how we like to break down every move and over analyze it to death around here. :)

I didn't watch the Butch Jones show, but I wondered if he made any comments about that particular exchange.

Yes we do. I was questioning the call at the time myself.

I think he wanted to take a shot or two to see if he might get a chunk of yardage or two. When it didn't work out he was prepared to just let the clock run out.

Freak,I just watched the show, and he didn't mention the end of the half,
basically just went through the game in about 10 minutes with all the big plays
talked about,mainly 2nd half things...

I've never let anyone on here get to me enough to where I felt the need to put them on the ignore list. If you do, then you are taking this sh!t too seriously.

To me... it kinda' like changing the channel when I dislike what's on the TV. It's not that it "gets to me." I just prefer not to listen to over-reactionary drama.

And I come to the forum for information and intelligent discourse. I prefer a high signal to noise ratio. I'm able to increase the SNR by eliminating much of the noise.
