Not sure what I think of this concept

Yeah but 50+ look easy nowadays....

Until you need that too good kicker to miss from 40 to keep from getting beat
Just a few years ago nobody could make field goals consistently. Now they are hitting them pretty good. Why not just leave it alone. If anything just narrow the post up a little in general instead of changing the point system. They always want to mess with something.

Just about every rule change the past 30+ years has prioritized keeping offensive players(primarily QB's) healthy and increasing scoring.

Even if it's just FG's, they won't make any changes that could decrease scoring outputs.
And defenses keep finding ways to stop it. Thank goodness. GBO

Not my idea, just thought it could be interesting.

The tour's made our courses longer cause guy can hit it further, games adapt.
I can understand narrowing the posts generally, but making separate sections for different points is strange.

Thats like saying if a WR bobbles a ball and then catches it in the end zone it's only worth 4 points

Leave it alone. This isn't arena football.
Agree. I enjoyed watching Aussie Football when it was on t.v. but like American football better than any other variety. Those Aussie crowds get into their game.

I saw where the NFL was thinking of tweeking field goals. The article mentioned colleges might join. They didn't want to see kickers drilling field goals from 60 yards like they were extra points.

the goal post is 18' 6". They wanted to add a second goal post 4 to 5 feet more narrow on each side. Between the small posts and get your 3 pts, between the outer posts and get 1. Extra points had to go between the smaller posts.

Idea was to make longer field goals harder since everyone is kicking basically 60 yarders now. Plus make teams go for it on 4th down more often.

Talk about brutal, down 2 on the 30, 4th and 2 with 3 or 4 minutes left......kick it? Might only get 1 and still be down. Go for it?

Could be stupid, could be interesting....kinda makes sense...the tours made our golf courses way longer because guys hit it a ton now. Augusta "Tiger proofed" the Masters. Guess games must adapt to bigger, stronger, faster, with more precise training.
Seriously. Stupid. Idea.

But what the hell, they have already pussified kickoffs. Why not just give the receiving team the ball on the 25 and not go thru that idiotic charade?

I am glad to hear this. I have been wishing I knew how to reach someone to suggest something along tis line for about three years for the pro game. Hera is what I suggest. First move the hash marks out to the college distance. Move the goalposts in 1.5 ft on both sides. I think the hash mark move would really change the game.

I hate this idea. Might as well just get rid of kickers. They miss extra points and field goals too often already imo so I don’t actually understand the reasoning for this. If anything by I’d change the point system but nothing about the goal posts. Less than 30 yards and it’s 1 or 2 points. 30-60 is 3 points. 60+ 4 points
OK if you go this route: If you miss the defense gets the points!

I'm among that 10 myself. Got off the book 4 years ago and don't miss the nonsense at all. I highly recommend people get off all the social media sites and see what a difference it can make.
But, but, but I have important thoughts that the world needs to hear.
