Now is the time

Her stats say she can play and the plays she made in the Marquette game really saved that one. In ten minutes a game she is averaging 4.6 point and 3 rebounds and shooting .643 from the field. I don't know why she is not getting more minutes. She got a lot more in the home games.
I hope Holly will play her more. Right now I think she or Hayes is a better starting option than Jackson.

I'm not saying Hayes isn't a great option to start,,,just timing and instance.

Let her mature as long as possible coming off of the bench. Meme is hitting 8 for 19 (41%) on 3's.. Why not use her to upset the opponent's offense and extend the defense,, for Hayes to come in and find seams in.

Hey,,,isn't that what they're doing now?

I’m fine with Annie coming off the bench. I’ve always believed in having a great 6th man if possible. I think Annie gives us much more spark and scoring off the bench than Meme would. And Meme’s a junior.

quite right.
She is like having a Tony Parker for a 6th man.

Starting a freshman at home is pne thing...on the road is a completely different situation. Let the coaches do their job, which is bringing this team along game by game. No need to mess with starting line up...don't recall us having a bad start yet.

Sooner or later Hayes will have to start over Jackson, now is the time for this move.
Let's stop ***** footing around , Hayes is the better player.
Also it's time to unlease the number one rated player Evina on offense.
Run some plays for her.
No way she shouldn't have double digits scoring every game at the point. Westbrook can score, but I can't
tell in this offense.

Most plays run thru the seniors, hell with that, run some thru Davis and Westbrook.
These games are driving me batty.

im with you on this, i notice it by the second game, i want Westbrook to be more aggressive

I am with you on this, however, we spend a lot of time trying to get the ball inside to Russell. This has occasionally created some erratic shots. We also force impossible passes into Russell when three players have collapsed in on her. Russell has also shown that she has fumble issues when trying to fight for a ball. I do not think that it is a must that Russell touch the ball every time on offense. I do not have a problem with trying to get it inside, however, you have to develop an offense where there are several options. We have more offensive talent this year than we have had in a long time.

I do like Jackson on defense and her shooting has improved.

Meme starting allows Hayes to sit and be coached while seeing what the other team is doing. I like Meme playing deep into first quarter, or all of it, then bringing in Hayes which is another scoring option and speed for days.

That would be great if the coach ever spoke to her

She doesn’t have to, that’s what assistant coaches are for and she sits in between 2 of them (Dean and Bridgette) both of whom coaches her while Holly is coaching what is taking place on the court!

Clearly everything you type is negative, go somewhere else if you’re so unsatisfied, it gotten old!

I'm so sorry. I did not understand when I signed up for this site that I could only be on so long as I agree with everyone. I thought it was a place where vol fans could share what their views and thoughts without being called negative and asked to leave.

there is sharing a view and then there is sticking a view in our face for shock value

Hayes averages one turnover for every 5.5 minutes played.

She has more turnovers than assists.

But she also gets to the free throw line quite a bit.

That's not my intent coach. I enjoy the give and take afforded by volnation. Please don't assign motives that I may not have. I always read your posts with a open mind and would like the same consideration. Just tell me when you disagree without the acromony.

good enough.

We are doing things, top to bottom that we didn't do last year....Team isn't "waiting on a scapegoat" like last year...It was: Anything to take the eyes off of what was happening ON the court...

Not this year. They're in sync. No one yelling "look at me",,,They're yelling look ay US.

Same for coaching. growth in game management..HW used a time out to stop a run and apologized for not doing so in the next game....That's growth.

Perfect storm

It’s okay because she’s a 17 year old FRESHMAN.....i suppose.

I tell my players two things:
It ain't showing off it it's part of your game
and
If it's part of your game you practice it!

Her turnovers are a small price right now to have a Tony Parker type guard on the floor (A drive and dish guard who can finish in contact)....And as a sixth man...Geesh!

Nope, still not ok whether it's Diamond or Annie. She needs to play under control. When they play better teams with talented guards, the turnovers from.Evina and Annie will be a major problem.

As was the case with the much-maligned Diamond.

Hayes will learn to make better decisions and not force passes. And some of her TO's come from playing a touch too fast or forcing the ball too deep into the paint rather than kicking out. Those are all freshman mistakes that should diminish as the season goes on.

And let's recognize that not all TOs are the same. If you make a bad pass at mid court that leads to a transition basket, that is a really bad TO. If you lose the ball out of bounds driving to the hoop or making a questionable pass. you lose a possession but the result is not catastrophic.

I would rather have a guard who forces the issue and picks up a few TOs than one who is timid or INCAPABLE of forcing the issue.
