Nope, still not ok whether it's Diamond or Annie. She needs to play under control. When they play better teams with talented guards, the turnovers from.Evina and Annie will be a major problem.

Why are we even comparing an upperclassmen to a freshman 6 games into her season? The turnovers hopefully will come down. No need to defend DD or Annie because one is gone and contributed and the other is learning on the job. DD had 88 assists compared to 115 turnovers her freshman year (3.7 turnovers per game). Both are aggressive type players that their aggressiveness causes turnovers but once the game slowed down for DD she was able to eliminate some of the turnovers because of experience. Hopefully the same will happen with Annie. I think she will learn to start playing under control and that what worked in HS with her all state track speed won’t always work on this level. I will say from the games I watched a lot of the turnovers from Annie and Evina were dead ball turnovers where the LV could set their defenses. Hate a turnover but at least the other teams aren’t able to get out and run off of 18-20 turnovers THAT would be a tragedy when getting to SEC play. If your gonna turn it over throw it into the stands and get back on D 😂 (or preferably just put up a shot and either make it or O board the dang thing).

good enough.

We are doing things, top to bottom that we didn't do last year....Team isn't "waiting on a scapegoat" like last year...It was: Anything to take the eyes off of what was happening ON the court...

Not this year. They're in sync. No one yelling "look at me",,,They're yelling look ay US.

Same for coaching. growth in game management..HW used a time out to stop a run and apologized for not doing so in the next game....That's growth.

Perfect storm

Thanks. Now let me state some concerns. Let me say that I think this team has more talent since the Parker era. I love to watch Westbrook. I call her silk because that's how smooth she is when she shoots. My concern is I havve not seen Holly's ability to develop raw talent. She doesn't seem to be able to manage problems as we saw last year. I feel she is in assistant mode. Wants to be the girls friend and seems unwilling to be the bad cop which is necessary in a head coach. That said I hope we have great season

May not be the case if you have an assistant coach that is willing to break bad on them. I have seen assistant coaches (position coaches) jump on the kids while the head coach was like a manager and it worked. The athletes could talk to both sets of coaches but knew the assistant coach was gonna drive them harder because they worked with them more one on one.

FYI, this post respectfully stated. Looking at some of your previous posts it may not have seemed that you were just trying to state your point of view but try and stir the pot if you will. While some may not agree on your take I think this post has a much more “im concerned about the team” tone.

There's your key....
She has a team with no problems and two leaders that are not problematic in JN and MR.

As long as they can keep it in the wind,,The perfect storm.

But it's ok because it's not Diamond, I suppose...

It’s okay because she has room for improvement and is doing whatever it takes to help the team win and isn’t concerned with individual stats and what she can do to build “her” brand!

I love DD’s basketball ability but as a teammate (and this is from the outside looking is) she wasn’t very good and it is telling! The team and it’s chemistry looks night and day compared to when she was here! Players are able to be themselves and play without worrying about what she thinks or feels about their performance!

I’ll take what Hayes is giving us and can potentially do for us this season and beyond because I know it is all about Tennessee and helping to truly return us to where we once were and it isn’t just lip service

Correlation: 17-18 year old girl with 6 games of college basketball experience! VS 21-22 grown a__ woman with over 100 games of experience !

It took me two or three games on HIGH SCHOOL to figure out what my center could catch and NOT catch! Annie will get better and smarter!!!!

DD is what she is ! 😈

DD did nothing to eliminate her TO's.
Freshman year (UNC)...122 TO's in 36 games...3.39 TO per game
Second year (Tenn)...115 TO's in 36 games...3.19 per game
Last year (Tenn)...103 TO's in 29 games...3.55 per game.

I think we all hope to see improvement, not regression, from Annie. Her speed is a huge asset in transition but not so much in the half court offense. During the latter, when she tries to drive deep under the basket it frequently results in a TO or offensive foul. When she pulls up around the margin of the key to shoot or dish, she's more successful. I'm sure she'll figure that out, but sooner would be better than later. She and Evina will both realize that college defenses are a lot better than HS defenses and they can't get away with stuff they used to.

I am curious as to your definition of "developing raw talent"?

Is Nared better now than she was as a freshman?

Is Jackson better now than she was a freshman?

Is Russell better now than she was a freshman?

Even Dunbar has become a better all round player.
