Honestly, Did anyone really believe that Coach Jones would have success this year after the revolving door of coaches and schemes that TN has endured the past few years. The truth is embodied in the "brick by brick" mantra by Jones. We all want "shazzam" but he and any realist knows that demolition and then a slow pragmatic approach is required to build a perennial power. The demo is about complete. I anticipate progress to truly begin now and grow exponentially as the old programs are buried and those with the mind of Jones are cemented in. Don't be in such a hurry and just enjoy watching the Rock Rise.

I set a goal to sleep throughout the night without getting up to take a wizz. I suppose I could cut it off.

I think everyone had their own goals they would like to have seen met this year. I'm with the OP, too early to judge this staff. First year records aren't always good barometers as to a coaches future success.

Man yeah! Thank You for posting. Although at times I have been frustrated and unrealistically expecting wins now, I know it is a process and we cant undo things overnight. Like you said.....lets stay the course.:)

No but what I did anticipate him to do was to make the 1 GOAL HE set for the season.

His ONE goal.

When everyone thought 3-9 Auburn would suck.

When everyone thought 5-7 Mizzou would suck.

When no one knew we'd be playing our 4th string QB

When no one knew it would come down to the Vandy game and Butch would lose his star reciever at the beginning of the game.

..... things change. His goal was already tough enough before all of the above happened.

Heaven forbid high paid coaches inspire their team and be expected to coach up their players.

The entire team loves him so he has inspired them. They have only won 4 games and still have nothing but great things to say about him. The players had nothing good to say about Dooley and some became lazy. The guys have worked hard and we have great a recruiting class coming in. The team has had to learn new schemes every year and with all that we came up just short in a few games or we would have had a winning record.

4-8 would be the worst record in UT history. 117 teams. Think about that for a moment. Staring it dead in the face and this roster has proven they can lay down with the best of them. If you are not PO'd by what has happened over the past several years INCLUDING this season you need to find another team to support. Not saying to fire Butch or anything of that nature. But am saying that it is unacceptable for the players and the coaches, except for recruiting, to perform at this level.

You being a fan and all, what are some of the reasons he didn't meet that goal???? What factors are there if any played into CBJ not getting us into a bowl game?
He used poor strategy vs UF and Vandy. The team was not coached up and did not improve over the course of the season. In 3 months, the QB coach/OC failed to have a back up QB ready to play. In more than 3 months, the DC could not call the right plays, get his players to know their responsibilities, or scheme to even slow down any credible rushing game. There's a start for you.

After all, we had a easy schedule.
Have you gone back to look at how VERY similar Dooley's first schedule was? That team was a little LESS talented than this one and had more issues to deal with especially off the field. He got UT to a bowl game.

We had a team of talented seniors that Dooley coached well.
So somehow he made them slower, weaker, dumber, less disciplined, and smaller than they were as Fr and Sophs?

we Had the same QB thruout the season.
Yep... just like Mizzou... Vandy... USCe...

Our players are the fastest in the SEC.
Right??
Nope... but Vandy pretty much proved that well coached guys who are slower, smaller, and less athletic can win against poorly coached "athletes" several times this year... as did Mizzou.

Wonder what they say behind his back. You seriously think they would say something bad about their coaches OUTLOUD! :banghead2:

It's not popular to say it, but I think Dooley did a great job with his first team. The fact that he took that group and should've had 8 wins if not for 2 screwy endings is crazy.

Complimenting Dooley? Is that not viewed as a crime around here?
