Now more controversy from Obama's church...

Wait a minute, so this racist church let a white man deliver a sermon?

Yes, as long as this white man preaches about the evil white man! Seriously though E-Main I don't think they are racist as much as they are a separatists who despise anything that "white America" touches or stand for.

The last paragraph of that article is a prime example of what turned me away from religion.

Please expand on that. I read the article and just don't get it. Just want to know where you are coming from emain.

I certainly wasn't accusing anyone here of labeling the church racist, but the sentiment is certainly out there.

Get ready to be shocked then.

I doubt it. I've talked to several people that have voted democrat all their life and have found out they will not vote for Obama. I know that is just my own little personal experience. But the polls reflect some of the same issues for him. People knowing that he is an almost shoe in to get the nomination yet he is only getting half the D vote in places like IN and getting trounced in some states.

If you have ever listened to George Carlin's comments on religion, it represents almost exactly where I am coming from.

"But he loves you"

I am certainly not discounting anyone's beliefs, they are certainly entitled to them, and I can even understand to a point where they are coming from having been there. It just isn't for me.

The democrats will come around by November. I think what is interesting is that Obama has to defend less heavily Democratic states than Clinton, and has a fighting chance at more traditionally Republican states than Clinton if you look at recent polling data. The fact that he leads in places like Iowa and Colorado show that he not only has a chance, but a good chance.

I don't think that Indiana is necessarily a great example either, just because it tends red and recent polling shows a dead heat. A lot can change, both ways, between now and generals though.

Hell, even Texas is in play for Obama as of right now.

Everything is in play as of right now, but you're right... a lot can change between now and November. That being said, his "associates" are doing everything they can to hand it on a silver platter to McCain.

I don't know that I would call this guy an associate, I would have to look into it.

Well, you get my point.... if I was Obama or Howard Dean, I would tell the church to just shut up until November.... or at least quit recording everything.

Rush reported earlier today on a rumor that the R's have a tape of Michelle speaking int he cchurch using the word "whitey" on more than one occasion... he said the rumor is the R's are sitting on it til October. If this is true, Obama can kiss it goodbye... but as of right now, this is nothing more than just a rumor, so I wouldn't get too worked up over it.

Yep. A lot can change. I am sure the Rs want Obama to win the nomination. Anything negative they have on him they are holding until after he gets the nod. Fun times ahead.

Not the ones I've talked to. A serious divide in that party.

Then you definitely need to look into it.

Obama and Pfleger have a long-standing relationship that dates back more than 20 years.

Obama directed a $225,000 grant to Pfleger's church back in 2001. Pfleger has been contributing to Obama's campaigns for years...and, like Jeremiah Wright, Obama has described Pfleger as a spiritual leader.

You have to think that white, female Hillary supporters will be a bit bothered by Pfleger's comments...and it's going to have some impact on Obama's ability to capture those votes.

Speaking of Obama's church, some of my African American co-workers and friends do not like what this church is doing. As one of them pointed out they are not helping to make young African American men and women accountable for themselves by deflecting the blame elsewhere when many of the choices they make are the reasons they are "disadvantaged".

Frankly, I'm surprised that any black members in the Trinity congregation bought the crap that Pfleger was spewing. The guy came across as cartoonish...a white man trying to impersonate a black preacher in front of a black congregation.

I have not seen it but I heard clips on the radio. I have to admit that I thought he was a black priest. I was very surprised to hear he was white and thought the same thing.

Bought it? Heck the guys behind him in the video were practically giving each other high fives. That is why it is nonsense to suggest Obama was a member of this church for 20 years and never knew this was the ideaology coming out of that place.
