Who deserves more credit? Archie Manning or David Cutcliffe? After much thought I have come to the conclusion Archie has been more instrumental in their development, not just because of their gene pool either.Agree or not?
Archie Manning - Biography
Pretty impressive stats.

I read yesterday where Arch said he didn't get too involved other than preaching to them that they must work year round. The credit goes to the players themselves! After all...... everything Cut touches does not turn to gold! (contrary to popular belief)

Some credit must go to the Giants and Colts defense. Otherwise, I credit each individually. Cut, Coughlin and Archie haven't thrown one pass that I have seen.

Anybody that ever coached either of them from pee wee ball on up was instrumental in their success but taking credit for it ? I don't think anybody but Peyton and Eli deserve the credit. I didn't see Archie or Cutcliffe out on the field taking licks from 300 lb. DTs or making throws.....let's give the credit to the people playing the game, both Manning brothers and their teammates.

The effort of the Giants front four was legendary. To beat the Pats, this year, you have to get pressure on the QB with your front four to win... the fact they got pressure without having to blitz was key...Congrats to Eli phenomenal effort.

I don't htink you can totally negate Coach Cut's influence, just listen to either Peyton or Eli and you will hear his importance to them, but with that said I give the parents (plural) credit for character development as they are major factors in any child's life and directly affects ones behavior as an adult. So Mr. and Mrs. Manning, job well done.

Peyton and Eli both with SB rings! All is right with the world! What a family. You know all last year, if I was Peyton, I would be saying to Eli, boy this superbowl ring sure is heavy! Have you you noticed how heavy they are... oh thats right you don't have one. :)

Funny, I've never heard silly debates like this regarding Favre, Montana, Young and the like.

Well DUH! None of them have bros in the NFL nor were they Vols.

What's your point?

This is an idiotic debate. Archie had the genes (and the money) to insure his sons would have the best everything.

Cutcliffe is a damn good QB coach. That's never been debated by anybody with common knowledge of football. But I'd say having a dad with NFL experience is a huge factor too.

i think he means no one ever props up favre and young's college qb coach for their super bowl rings.
Cut has a rep for being not just a good, but an exceptional qb coach. Archie is known for not only his having 3 boys who grew up in his footsteps, but his gentlemanly manor. This would seem to be a reasonable question to post to the board. (Especially at this SLOW time of year here)

BTW I'm sure BPV is more than capable of speaking for himself.

You know what? I don't have a personal beef with you or anyone else here. Perhaps the "well duh" portion was inflammatory and unnecessary. My bad if I offended. But this is a FORUM where debating is encouraged. Just because you don't like a topic or opinion does not make it idiotic. People around here (including myself at times) need to grow up.

The Giants front four should have been named Co-MVP's. I absolutely LOVED Alford's hit on Mr. Brady on that last drive. I didn't think he was goin to get up after that one.

give him credit for being smart enough to call a TO from his back though. He got planted and still knew the game situation

I can speak for myself and VFB said it just fine.

I'm not sure where you live, but my world is a hair larger than the Vol Board. I've never heard a debate, even outside of the Vol Board, about Favre's QB coach having more valuable input than his parents. Ditto Unitas, Montana, Young, Bradshaw, Starr, etc.

If Cutcliffe were more than just a piece of the makeup of these two, then UT would have a laundry list of NFL QBs with big rings. We don't. Cutcliffe did his job, the Mannings provided the other 99%.

Espn seen Cut as a big enough influence and as to why they both where in the SB that they had a 15min seg about Coach Cut and how he keeps coaching them up to the SB.

ESPN also had 6,938 hours of Super Bowl coverage. You have to fill the time somehow

If you can name me Favre's, Montana's, Young's or Bradshaw's QB coach in college then this might be a good topic for debate.

they also had a special on the 3 different dogs the boys shared growing up and credited all of the stick throwing for some of their success. Seemed a stretch to me, but it was on ESPN. Who would think to question that?

Good Lord. Give that a break. You'd think Cut was at the Giants practice for the last month or something.

There's a couple of pathetic points here though.

Every one is acting like Eli is part of the Vol family. Last time I checked, he's part of the Ole Miss family.

The other thing is how much crap Eli took not just from the media brought from SEVERAL on this board for his incompetence. Now he's a golden boy hero every Vol should love. Pathetic. You can't have it both ways. It's just as bad as Windy's and TnFan07's bandwagon support.

I missed that one. For some reason, your comment reminds of the scene from the Superman movie in which young Clark throws the tennis ball only to the dog's whinning at how far it traveled.
