Now that both Mannings have won Superbowl MVP's back/back..........

There's a couple of pathetic points here though.

Every one is acting like Eli is part of the Vol family. Last time I checked, he's part of the Ole Miss family.

The other thing is how much crap Eli took not just from the media brought from SEVERAL on this board for his incompetence. Now he's a golden boy hero every Vol should love. Pathetic. You can't have it both ways. It's just as bad as Windy's and TnFan07's bandwagon support.
but....but.....Cutcliffe......

Who deserves more credit? Archie Manning or David Cutcliffe? After much thought I have come to the conclusion Archie has been more instrumental in their development, not just because of their gene pool either.Agree or not?
Archie Manning - Biography
Pretty impressive stats.

This was the question posed. I don't see anywhere in it where there are more than 2 options given. Archie or Cut. Obviously the players themselves are most responsible for what occurs on the field. The question asks who was most instrumental in the development of these two.

I tend to agree with utfantilidie. As parents, Archie and Olivia instilled a sense of hard work, committment and a never-say-die attitude that, so far, has served them well. Cut does have an EXCELLENT reputation for turning out great QBs (None of which will ever sniff a Super Bowl victory without a talented supporting cast), and I'm sure his mentoring the Mannings has had a positive impact as well.

but Cutcliffe nothing.

I'm with Groves. I'd be happy if you could just tell who was the head coach of Steve Young at BYU or Favre's HC at Southern Miss.

And on that note, does anyone realize who Young succeeded at BYU?

a hint: Another Super Bowl winning QB.

and everyone else is saying that the answer is so obvious that the question should never be posed. I know we all want UT to be the focal point of the universe and Cutcliffe to be the reason, but it's just insane. Those two guys are enormously talented, work very hard, and play for good football teams.

even more to the point, why was no one asking about Donte Stallworth's receiver coach, or Gibril's DB coach, or Al Wilson's LB coach when he was winning? It just doesn't make any sense. This is the only time and only place I've ever heard a debate of this nature.

I can't understand why Eli and Peyton's HS coach has not been interviewed for some big time D1 college head coaching job. This guy has turned out 2 SB MVP QBs. My goodness, this dude is awesome!!!!

Feel free to pose those questions. I won't call you idiotic.

Again, if you don't like the topic, why join the conversation? Just to be antagonistic? You're bigger than that. Aren't you?

Obviously he had nothing to do with either of them. Cutcliffe has coached both Mannings since they started walking.

Maybe there will be a trivia pursuit question along the lines of, "Who is the only coach to be a Division 1A Head Coach at two different schools preceeded with an OC position at a different school and to have been the QB coach for the only back-to-back super bowl MVP brother tandem?"

If you can name me Favre's, Montana's, Young's or Bradshaw's QB coach in college then this might be a good topic for debate.

Steve Young's was Norm Chow. Chow also was the QB coach for Jim McMahon, so like Cut, he's coached two Super Bowl quarterbacks in college. If Carson Palmer or Philip Rivers ever gets there, Cut will have some work to do.

The 85 bears would have won the SB with me at QB and I was 12 at the time.

impressive knowledge. I just knew that someone coached both Young and McMahon. Didn't realize Chow was their OC. If anything, Cut already has work to do. Ty Detmer and Matt Leinart should also be on Chow's list of players correct?
