now we are a lock

You guys must be watching a different team than me. I'm watching a team that lost to Miss State at home last weekend.

Also, Bama is 11-4 in the SEC and beat us at home. They'd be a team to start with getting in over us.

We're not losing by 20 to Kentucky.

Plus, you're talking about the absolute worst-case scenario. The realistic scenario is the toss-up game against UK Sunday (thinking we win), and, if we win and grab a 3/4 in the East depending on what else shakes out, we'd play either LSU or Auburn, both of which we beat soundly.

I agree with that. My point is I have seen this team make the worst case scenario a reality about 8 times this year. I've learned my lesson.

Their RPI, SOS, and quality wins say otherwise. Also, the committee will know they won in OT with our best player out.

This literally proves that you know absolutely nothing about what actually matters to the committee. RPI and SOS are WAY more important than your conference record.

Sigh. Ok. Like I said, if we lose badly to UK and lose our first SEC game, get back to me. Deal?

Again, I think we'll get in, I'm just debating semantics here. I just don't think we're a "lock" because we beat South Carolina.

We control our own destiny, so I hope we get it done. Beating UK would be a great way to head into the postseason.

Deal. If we grab even just the 4, though, we're not losing to LSU.

Even grabbing the 5 wouldn't be awful because it would be Ole Miss and the only time they beat anyone is when Warren goes nuts.

Have you seen the back of the bubble? Would you put Memphis or someone similar to them in over us?

Anyone saying we aren't a lock doesn't even know what the back of the bubble looks like. It's because they also know next to nothing about college basketball.

I don't disagree with anything you are saying. I'm simply making the point that this team is about as unreliable as they come. I wouldn't say anything is out of the question.

Us not making the NCAAT is out of the question.

your missing the point of why this win was important. We arent in now because we beat USCjr. We are in because we didn't lose to USCjr. The win doesn't make us world beaters, but the loss would have looked terrible.

And a big loss to UK and a first round SECT loss wont knock us out.

I think the biggest thing now that could hurt UT getting into the NCAA tourney would be if some teams that have no shot of getting into the tourney get hot and win their conference tournaments. This could throw some teams that were expected to win their conferences into the at large teams. I'm not sure I would call it a lock, but I feel good about UT getting in if things remain the same.
