Elijah Conliffe
Defensive tackle
Hampton (Va.) High School
The race for Conliffe, a four-star prospect, has gotten interesting down the stretch. Tennessee and Florida appeared to be the favorites to land him a week ago. The Vols tried to get a feel for which direction he was leaning during their final visit with him last week, but Conliffe didnt tip his hand. UT responded by adding three-star receiver Josh Palmer on Tuesday. Sources have said theres still a scenario in which Tennessee could have room for Conliffe. But the odds of the Vols squeezing him into their class now are slimmer than they once were, and theres still no guarantee they would land him either way.
Aaron Sterling
Defensive end
Tucker (Ga.) High School
Sterling, a three-star prospect, has been involved with Tennessee for months and has continued to give the Vols strong consideration coming off his official visit to Knoxville a little more than a week ago. Hes planning to choose between South Carolina and UT on Wednesday, but sources have indicated for weeks that the Gamecocks are the team to beat, and nothing seems to have changed coming off his official visit to Columbia, S.C., over the weekend. Theres a good chance Tennessee wouldnt have room for him at this point, anyway, and sources said the Vols coaches didnt visit him last week.
