Number 10 New AP Poll

IMHO being 10th is generous. Back to back losses to unranked teams---I was expecting to drop around 15th. Yeah, they were buzzer beater losses, but again, shouldn't have let it come down to the last 30 seconds. Vols need some guards that can hit their shots.

As far as the SEC conference quality goes, 8 out of 14 teams are sitting within the 7-5 and 5-7 range. Hard to distinguish who is who within the pack. Ole Miss, LSU, and SC clearly suck. Bama and A&M are clearly playing well.

Missouri deserves to be ranked now. They’ve only lost to ranked teams or on the road. 19-6. Same record as #10.

The only reason that TN is #10 is because #1 is coming to TBA on Wednesday, It is all about hype and marketing and not about previous performance. Bama will leave TBA with at least a 10 point win, hope I am wrong but the bones never lie.....

Haha...it's because a bunch of other top 20 teams also lost last week, and there is no great team this year. AP voter out west or up north probably has no idea who UT plays this week and doesn't care about "hype and marketing."

Maybe the AP doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I’m shocked we’re still Top 10, but apparently the AP voters understand a lot more about basketball than our “fans” who denigrate the team on a consistent basis. Luck was heavily involved in those two losses, but there are those who want to continually blast Tennessee because of reasons I don’t understand.

I think most fans comment while emotions are high, myself included. I can only imagine how the players feel rt now.

People get upset or emotional about those games because they should have never came down to the last 3 point shot to be defeated.
I don’t think they really did come down to that. A good look at those last 2 games will show Vandy & Mizzou players practically making eyes closed shots from half court with two hands in their faces. I’m not suggesting they didn’t deserve the wins, they did enough, but the hope now is that we’ve used up all our dumb luck sacrifice losses for one season. Perhaps better things are ahead.

Im not sure if this link will post, but computer simulations have Vols finishing 4-2 and receiving a 2 seed in the dance. Hopefully I posted the link correctly.

Edit- I can’t post entire link. TN is a projected 2 seed if they finish 4-2 down the stretch.

All I can say is UT has not had to pay much for their losses this year. To be in the top 10 after losing two to teams that aren’t needle movers is remarkable. With so many other teams losing, that helps. UT isn’t going to have an impressive conference record. I see several more losses on the horizon. I think they are getting a lot of credit for their early wins.

I can’t believe we are still in the top ten. We got to get this thing turned around. Beat Bama!!!!

I MUST believe this or otherwise I can't understand even being a fan if it makes people so blinded and post things that clearly either are not truthful or intended to offend the knowledgeable fan ( I am genuinely embarrassed for a lot of posters) . I rarely read much fan posting after a loss for a couple of days because its an act of futility. I like intelligent, sport educated opinions that help me understand the game better and I'd say we get less than 30% of that here from most fans. JMO.

The game is on ESPN and it is the highest ranked matchup of the evening and will probably draw the most viewers. Losing 3 out of last 4 to unranked teams should have had the VOLs dropping further than 10th, I am glad they aren't but it is suspect.

AP voters don't work for ESPN. But it's a nice conspiracy theory. As I said, a bunch of other teams have lost multiple games the last 2 weeks.

ESPN does get several votes including Dick Vitale and Jeff Borzello who voted today. ESPN is going to market the ranked matchups to obtain the most viewers.

To be fair, are even 1% of the posts deep insight to the games they’re about? Not seeing any posters breaking down our man vs zone mechanics for the pending Bama game.

yeah, I would say the last few weeks we've barely played like a top 25 team...but, in fairness, most all teams go through some sort of bad spell during the season and we're no different. We're still probably got a top 10-15 resume...Just hope we're getting this out of the way now, instead of a month from now.

Pretty good spot considering two buzzer beater losses. Missouri is a good team ,and Tennessee still has top 10 wins over Kansas and Texas. I think they can pull out the win against Alabama, and hand them their first loss in the SEC.

Idk…I can think of 10 or so posters off top of my head who discuss sets, motions etc with fairly accurate insights. It’s the “we’re horrible and never winning anything again” posters that are just a waste of time. Several put in a lot of time on research that brings good insight here. Granted…a few like to be argumentative but I usually ignore that and glean what I can from their post. I guess that was the point of was attempting to make. JMO
