Nutt Axed

According to a source close to Nutt, the coach believed his fate had been decided before the LSU game. After the Razorbacks' triple-overtime victory, the university then offered him a two-year contract extension. The parties agreed, however, that it was best for the sides to part ways.

very interesting. maybe he already has something lined up? $3.5 million buyout is not too shabby though.

Their football program needed to start clean. Frank Broyles is gone and so is Nutt. They needed a fresh start.

I hope the man gets a good job. He loves his players and they love him.

Because arky wants to just start clean after the mustain/malzahn disaster. again though, I don't see how the mustain thing was his fault. That blood is on Frank Broyles' hands, who is of course is on his way out as well. This way he comes out smelling clean. The great arky fans took it all out on Nutt though.

Arkansas tried to keep him, and even offered him a raise and an extension.

looks like the FOI requests, lawsuits, and the banners have taken a toll

either way Broyles could have done more to ease the crap Nutt put up with from the arky fans. For one he could've stepped up and admitted he screwed up. Good for Nutt. He'll move on to greener pastures and prove himself and make all those fans you have to put up with feel as foolish as the rest of the world sees them as.

Nutt said he was hopeful that his departure would unify the state, which had been torn with turmoil surrounding the football program.

Today's THV - KTHV Little Rock

Broyles came across pretty good in the press conference.
Opening up with recruiting against Bear Bryant for Houston.

It's about 3 minutes into the clip. John White (Chancellor) is the first speaker

wow. Broyles comes across looking more than pretty good. He's right though. Nutt did nothing but improve that program and make them an SECW contender each year.

Here's to hoping Nutt can assembe a team in Oxford that makes the Arkansas cry for Nutt to come back home.

vol in ar, what is the reaction like over there? especially seeing Nutt has signed with Ole Miss so soon?

Who are they talking to about replacements? do they think they can get Jimmy Johnson or Butch Davis?

I asked this yesterday, but does Arky actually have a chance at JJ or Davis?

Davis just signed an extension with UNC. The man is loyal. He won't be headed to Arkansas....

JJ won't be there either.

If the program was run by sane individuals, they would have been.

Frank Broyles is as sanely as it gets.

JJ and Davis were early favorites, after Davis signed his extension, he's off the table. I think most realize JJ's not coming back.

The names you keep hearing are:
Mike Leach
Tommy Tuberville

and there's alot of folks that want Malzhan.

Folks would have rather seen him go to Baylor or GA Tech.
Their a little miffed at the University for buying his contract out at $3.5MM, and saying they wanted him to stay and it was Nutt's decision to resign. If he truely resigned he would only be eligible for about a $2MM buyout.

Now he got a great buyout, and goes to an SEC school that has more returning starters than Arkansas, he recruits the same area, and plays them every year.

Jimmy Sexton is worth every penny Houston's paying him.

Malzhan is the name I have heard from one of the Alum's.

Jimmy Johnson, Davis & Tommy Tuberville are who they'd like but won't get.
