No, Stygian as in Dark or Gloomy, ie the opposite of sunshine. I enjoy calling sunshine pumpers on their BS.

At no point have I ever said “us” as I’m not employed by the university nor am I am I player on the team. Go ahead and quote the posts I said “us” This is the 2nd time I’ve been accused of going by a different screen name, Stygian is the only screen name I go by anywhere online.
As for my connection to UT I live in East Tennessee and in a football fan.

So, is Fromm leaving early and who is going to underachieve at QB for y'all next year if he does?

Welcome new person. Vol til he's not.
Popcorn Panda is becoming an elite poster. Filling the role in the DW thread that BabyOG did for the RF during the season. Dragging everyone else along with his raw, unadulterated optimism. Hopefully he's as right as the #WinOut movement was.

It took many people to achieve this monumental achievement...

Wasn't all the "reports" saying vonn bell was coming here leading all the up to his announcement?
Vonn Bell was a toss up on signing day.. which was a win for Butch Jones as Dooley had put us way behind on Bell.

About 30 minutes before Bell's announcement, the CBs and recruiting experts started picking Bell to the Vols .. but then Bell picked OSU. Not sure what made everyone think Vols about 30 minutes prior to his announcement. I think Bell may have trolled a Vol fan before his announcement and it went viral with everyone believing he was going to be Vol.

He made the same decision as Saban with Tua/Hurts.....except the opposite lol. Saban made the obvious choice. Kirbs made the obviously wrong choice.
How is it the same? Saban lost against Auburn with Hurts and got a mulligan since the West was strong. UGA lost against LSU with Fromm, but didn't get that mulligan. At which point should he have benched Fromm? When he was throwing for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns against bama in the SECC? Kirby's issue is that his offense is from the stone ages and isn't relevant in college football any more. Fromm would probably be successful if he had decent WR's and an offense that discovered the forward pass.

Where I stand.... Just not ready to say it is over because of what the recruiting services and their crystal balls are pointing to especially since Gucci said I have to, and I am stubborn to a fault. Everything AV told us would happen happened. He said we just had to close. All the smoke says we didn't. But think he would have given a hint by now if we didn't. And think he would give a hint right before announcement if we did.

So is this basically where we stand at this point? All signs point to DW having signed with UGA but we haven't shut the door because AV hasn't said to move on yet?

And that this thread has achieved a Grudenesque life of its own for general conversation?

You ever given a UT ticket someone you didn't even know? Have you ever helped a family who had sick children or something wrong with them physically who normally could not get to a game without special help from the administration? Who cares if someone gets where a kid is going right every time because I sure don't. However, some on this board have done these things and more yet you want to downgrade them. Listen to Hubbs and Price who are also wrong a lot when they do not give their opinion two days before and sometimes are wrong even then. They are still good to listen to and have fun following recruiting even though they don't know as well. But, to have to add your snarky comments regarding someone who had done more good in the world and for Tennessee than I bet you have even thought to do, is just plain ignorant and ridiculous. People like you deserve the misery you project.
I don't always agree with you Jacket, but this is a great post sir.

You live IN a football fan. Gross.

I have to admit that at this point I'm just scrolling through quickly looking for any sign of life from Atlanta vol. 😐
Maybe just joking, but in case not - you can search for posts specifically by him. Much easier if it's all you're looking for. Tl:dr you will be disappointed

Decent WRs???? You have 5* WRs lol.
Jawga where a 5* goes to waste

Lol he has crazy talented receivers and RBs and OL. Fromm was doing great under a good OC. So much for that. Coley is just THAT bad. Just ask Miami.

George Pickens is the first 5* WR UGA had since AJ Green I believe. UGA has made the playoffs with their 5*’s and won the east 3 consecutive years. Imo the problem lies with the offensive philosophy. Bully ball doesn’t work any more.

Grandchild: "Granddad, what did you do before the war?"

Me: "Well, child, I was there and posted on the 500th page of the Darnell Washington thread."

"Also, it was way before my time and I know you'll find it next to impossible to believe, but I read something about Georgia having won a national championship."

Agree with your last sentence. Kirbs is like Les Miles. Recruit, defense, run ball. He is either going to evolve or die. LSU took decades to evolve (and it took a new HC to do it), but goodness all that talent is finally being used now.

*btw Hardman was a 5* for the pups. As was Godwin. And Blaylock was like 4 spots from a 5*. And passcatching TE Nauta was a 5*. Mitchell was ONE spot from a 5*. To act like those guys haven't had (and failed) with 5* quality guys catching the ball would be disingenuous. UGA (especially Kirby recently) gets them, then just wants to run run run.

Coley is definitely bad, but Chaney wasn’t the answer either. Every playoff team runs a spread because it’s more efficient at turning yards into points and scales better than pro style offenses. Saban moved away from it to the spread and bully ball was his bread and butter. Orgeron figured it out and Burrow killed it this year. It’ll be interesting to see which teams are the last to change.

lol I mentioned LSU before I saw this. Joe Brady should be able to land any job he wants given the progress of LSU’s offense. I think Kirby is trying to recreate old bama. The problem is that doesn’t work any more. The game has changed. Passing offenses travel better than defenses now.

Hardman was a 5* athlete. He never played WR in HS. Crazy how quick he was able to pick it up though. Fromm did well with them in 2017 and 2018, but not so well when they all left. I still think UGA’s offensive issues were a 3 part problem. Coley, inexperience/injuries to WE, and Fromm all deserve blame.

Notice Chaney went way more spread and pass when he got here and has previously too, as well. He's very flexible to his HC and team. Even then, he had them #4 SP+ (tempo adjusted) offense last year and 38 PPG. Now 31 PPG in Fromm's junior year lol. Coley is beyond bad.

But I think the 70s offensive mentality is a Kirby thing, just like it was with Les. No matter the OC, the promise of change, the great QBs, he repeated the same offensive style. Great vs less talented teams, but not good enough vs talented high powered offenses. Same as Kirby has seen. Hopefully he keeps bein himself lol
