A couple of interesting quotes from Darnell Washington to Kipp Adams the UGA 247 mod:
ON WHETHER HE SIGNED DURING ESD:
"I already signed, so I am locked in,"
ON WHO HE TOLD WHERE HE SIGNED:
"I told my coach, one of the coaches that I sent it out to, I let the entire staff know, and my future wife."
ON THE DECIDING FACTOR:
"It really came down to how I got along with the coaches,"
"The vibe of the school and the vibe of the coaches. Ever since they offered, they kept communicating, unlike some schools that offered and then faded away and tried to come back in at the end. I am pretty sure he knew I was coming. We have the best relationship. His past tight ends and the players he has coached, I believe he will develop me the same or probably even better."
If he had the best relationship with Nieds, this all sounds good, there was also a quip where he responded to Kipp that he’d love to play with Zach Evans, in response to Kipp’s question. Evans is a 5 star running back that we are not in the running for, but DW may have just been not trying to blow his cover and Kipp asked him about that.
I can help with this. Todd Hartley is UGA Tight End coach who was just added to staff in 2019. He coached NFL Tight Ends David Njoku, Chris Herndon and Clive Waldord during his time as TE coach for University of Miami.Hopefully Chaney, though I don't know anybody at UGA that can make that claim. Admittedly I don't know much about their TE coach but he's a young dude (and a damn ugly one too).
Vol. I don't want to look back in this thread to find it, but in a previous interview, he mentioned Nieds kept recruiting him earlier on in the process when other schools had backed off. Along with his close relationship with Nieds, I'd say the cat just jumped out of the bag.
Initially, I thought the part about the deciding factor sounded a lot like Nieds, but upon further research, it’s probably referring to Hartley at UGA. Here’s part of his bio...he’s selling those TEs he developed and got drafted at Miami. Nieds has only ever been a TE coach for the last 2 seasons here, and that’s it. I still wonder why AV won’t just come here and tell us he’s not a Vol, and what happened, other than we got played again.A couple of interesting quotes from Darnell Washington to Kipp Adams the UGA 247 mod:
