I hope and pray you are right. I just don't see it. Defense would have to make huge strides for that to happen.

But man a surprise 8-9 win season would be exactly what the program needs
Defense needs to make a jump. That’s why you bring in the transfers we’ve brought in. But to me, those wins come by getting a huge jump from offense/QB more so than defense

When people talk about the number of wins this year I think they forget we beat South Carolina and Missouri ( in addition to Vandy) last year. I’ve seen nothing that makes me think that any those are going to be greatly improved this year. Add the non conference games and a split with KY/Ole Miss and I see a chance for 7-8 wins.

At Erasmus Hall High School, Mohan racked up 108 tackles & 26 sacks during his last two seasons. Article from last summer:

Recruitment: Mohan committed to Michigan on June 23, 2019 after one of the biggest official visit weekends of the summer. Mohan was targeted by Michigan early in the process by [defensive coordinator] Don Brown because of his fit at viper. The athletic linebacker picked up around 15 offers over his high school career and had some pretty good options beyond Michigan. He had opportunities from schools like Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin among others.

Player Breakdown/Player Comparison: There's a reason Don Brown wanted Mohan so badly — he fits the viper position perfectly. At 6-1, 195 pounds, he's got the right build and frame to do everything the viper is asked to do. Coming out of high school, he was billed as a relentless, speedy, athletic and tenacious defender. He's very aggressive, a natural blitzer and really punishes the ball carrier when he arrives. He's also played some safety in his day so he's not uncomfortable covering backs and tight ends.

He's also been described as an extremely hard worker and as a player who does not give up on a play — ever. If you need a player to run someone down from 40 yards away, Mohan is your guy. He's fast enough to do it and has the mentality to make it happen.

Because of Mohan's size, speed, tenacity and ability to pursue, he reminds me of Deone Bucannon.

Only negative I see is that he doesn't have much experience as an ILB.

But if he sacks that QB get him on the field!

10.13.20: “There’s one name that you’re gonna see play, and that’s Apache Mohan,” Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown said on the “Inside Michigan Football” radio show Oct. 5. “This guy can chase the football. He can rush the passer. Some guys, you teach them and they rush the passer, and some guys it’s, ‘On your mark, get set, go,’ and they just flat out rush the passer. This is one of those kinds of guys. He can really go.”

[Erasmus Hall coach Danny] Landberg said Mohan’s Apache nickname, which his mother gave him before he arrived at Erasmus Hall, derives from his playing style. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder led his league with 13 sacks as a senior and starred on a defense that allowed just 4.3 points per game. “Apache means fierce warrior,” Landberg told MLive in a phone interview. “He plays with relentless pursuit and anger. He is probably the most disruptive defensive player I have ever had in my life.”

Erasmus Hall has been a powerhouse in New York under Landberg, but that state isn’t considered a hotbed for top college prospects. Nevertheless, Landberg believes Mohan was severely underrated. “There’s no question he was,” Landberg said. “He just didn’t hit the circuit like all the other people do. He is probably an NFL football player. Being from New York City, these guys (college coaches) sometimes don’t understand how good some of our kids are. He is every bit worthy of being a four-star with ease.”

...Like most freshmen, Mohan faces a learning curve as he gets acclimated with the playbook, but Michigan first-year linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary said he has the molding of an impact college player. "He is probably one of the most explosive young men that I’ve ever been around, and I’ve been coaching for 20 years,” Jean-Mary said on Monday’s “Inside Michigan Football” radio show. “He has some natural abilities that you can’t take credit for as a coach. He has that that instinct and has that knack of just getting to the football. It’s not always done the right way, but when you look at his production, it’s through the roof as far as rushing the passer and just getting to the football. He’s a very unique individual, and the more we can keep honing him in on working within the framework of the defense, he’s got chance to be a very special player.”

Michigan’s William Mohan is making an early impression, and his nickname is catching on too

I love the aggressive win now attitude the coaches have adopted with the portal. It very much falls in line with the aggressive offensive and defensive style of play i've read they prefer. I'm holding back expectations but boy am I excited for football season. Not sure how many we win this year but I think it will be fun to watch!

I was wondering if you would be willing to change your user name to something a little more specific. It is just very broad and random. Just something to think about while you study the science of teaching voluntarily.
