NY POST cartoon offends....

Last time I checked, the NAACP never lynched white people on a burned cross. They haven't done a tenth of what the Klan has done.

Since I know you're going to ask my take on this, I'm just going to go ahead and give it to ya. The cartoon has touches/ of racism in it, however, it's not an outright racist cartoon in itself.

Was stupid to draw up and publish, but not grounds for being fired. This is a Don Imus-type situation. Stupidity prevails, but is not grounds for a firing.

did you know that it was Republicans and Abolitionists who founded the NAACP? It was racist southern Democrats doing all the lynching and cross burning.

You don't think that there might be just a "tiny bit" of a problem with a police officer next to a dead monkey saying "they'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill"?

BHO did not "write" the bill.

That is exactly right. Racists have compared African Americans to monkeys for a very long time. I can totally understand how people can take that cartoon as racist.

I dont believe that it was intentional, and people shouldnt loose their jobs over it, but you damn right the Post should have apologized.

POS liberals compared Bush to a chimp.

The NY Post editor should tell the NAACP to kiss his ass in the only place it isn't White.

Then you understand ignorance. Once again, he did not write the bill.

No one should have apologized for anything.

You know damn well who the post was going after in that cartoon, and if you don't your not ignorant your stupid.

I win.

I understand the cartoonist was going after the people that wrote the bill. Sorry you are too stupid to understand that.

That I did know. But then again, the Dems of 100 years ago are not the same Democrats as today.

The only ones who should be offended by this cartoon are trained chimps. They are really starting to get a bad rap in the press. The fact that many of us believe them to be smarter than most of our elected officials should bring them some consolation though.

they were the same dems 40 years ago when civil rights legislation was being filibustered in the senate. the same democrats who turned the fire hoses on civil rights protesters. It was a democrat who ordered the wiretapping of Martin Luther King.

Other than rejecting racial quotas in favor of merit-based advancement (and I personally don't think this was a problem) name one thing the GOP has done to garner the animosity of much of the black community.

Are you saying it was supposed to be Obama but they didn't think of the racial aspect?

1) they were the same dems 40 years ago when civil rights legislation was being filibustered in the senate. the same democrats who turned the fire hoses on civil rights protesters. It was a democrat who ordered the wiretapping of Martin Luther King.

2) Other than rejecting racial quotas in favor of merit-based advancement (and I personally don't think this was a problem) name one thing the GOP has done to garner the animosity of much of the black community.

1) Ehh, the tables were starting to turn in the 60's towards modern liberalism, but there were still some old school Dixiecrats who were inherently racist.

2) You just said it right there. Rejecting racial quotas is something that Sharpton and Jackson will jump all over. I don't think that the Republican party in itself is racist, but the party base is pretty much all white, except for a few notables like Keyes, Steele, etc.

what does that mean? Are we not all inherently racist?

I have my own ideas but I would like to know what your thoughts are on the reason for this.
