Obama freezing his staff's pay

I think that you may have outdone yourself here, joevol. What would you have said if McCain had done this today? Probably nothing....

When do federal raises come? This might make sense if the raises come in February or so.

Is your point that this is just for show? I would argue that when any politician does this, it is just for show.

I think that is a good move, even if it's just PR and they have no immediate raises coming in the near future.

However, I thought it was comical that Biden had absolutely no idea what was going on when he was supposed to swear in the Senior Staff. Then Obama got all pissy because Biden tried to make light of it. Remind me again how much better Biden is than Palin?

we as conservatives need to make sure that we are critizising obama on the important things, not just nitpicking. If we start nitpicking we will look like the dems,

You blew me away with that post. Kudos to you. It's easy to be personal or snarky, but much more worthwhile to be objective and unemotionally critical.

it's stuff like that the sheeple will gush all over. you think hussein O gives them raises 2x a year. i mean, i guess it's feel good stuff. he's going save a few percent on raises for a small few, but will end up spending billions on larger government.

hey what do you want to bet that when he unfreezes the raises, i bet he makes the raises retroactive.

Yeah, because the last thing we want in top appointed posts are people who are worth what they are paid.

almost nobody in an administration is paid their market value. Obama is clearly being overpaid here, but the rest are likely underpaid.

not to mention another convenient excuse for the treasury secretary to not pay his taxes.

I am a bit concerned by this issue, myself. At worst, he's a bad example of people trimming their liabilities, at best he's got no attention to detail. Either is a pretty bad quality for Treas.

those guys are all millionaires anyways. not that it's a bad thing. they don't do it for the money, it's the power.

Tax attorneys are going to have a field day with this issue.

The attorneys won't because it is clearly irrelevant to anyone's personal return.

But the pro se loonies -- and believe me there's an army of them when it comes to taxes -- will have a whole new thing to taunt the government about.

How could anyone have problem with this? Sounds like less lobbyist influence and more goverment transperancy and accountability. Great stuff.

You do not think that an attorney, for someone that is a few years behind on taxes, will not use this to get more time to pay?

You're so lost it's pathetic.
No they aren't. Actually very few of them are actually millionaires.

you don't think so? i promise you these guys have made so much money working with firms or working with lobby groups. i promise the spouses of the staff have very sweet jobs making a lot of money. plus the perks these guys get outside of their base pay, they're doing quite well.

dude you really get with reality.

The wall thickens and thickens for you doesn't it?

Making it and having it are two different things. I didn't say they weren't doing well, but for the most part, these people, as BPV noted, are underpaid. I stand by my statement. Very few White House staffers are actually millionaires. By that, I mean net worth.

We all you know hate Obama. You've proven it time and time again with your useless, uninformed threads.

Be happy, Joe. Life is good. At least for some of us
