When that happened -- and it was done by a few fringe people with no clout and not on a major network -- the right wing commentators went absolutely berserk, calling it treasonous, insulting, and criminal.
Now, when you have a prominent person in the conservative movement make something so outrageous, he gets a prime time show on Fox.
You will excuse me if I don't buy into claims that it is the left that is being hypocrticial here.
I think he's just angry that shows like The View and liberal radio like Air America can't draw the kind of audience numbers that Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity do, so the only alternative is to portray them as a danger to the country, so they need to be shut down.
As much as I hated hearing an Englishman call our President a retard, I would prefer he have the liberty to express his opinion than to empower the government to silence dissent. Too bad LG doesn't see the inevitable outworking of such governmental power throughout history.
"Comparable comparison?" Lay off the Mother Goose and explore new adjectives.
LG's right, ideology drives response, regardless of who's doing the provocation or who the target of the criticism is. And, contrary to what I think is your point, an unfair comparison will draw even more ire than one that is fair.
