This country has lost its way and we are paying for it. Morality, common sense, God, are being destroyed. Everything this country was built on is being dismantled before our eyes. I fear for the America my children will be forced to live in. We will soon no longer be the land of the free.

You have every right to be worried. Things are going down hill at a very fast clip and not enough people are standing up against it.

This country was founded by people escaping religious persecution in Europe. Remember Plymouth Rock, 1620, Pilgrims. Yes indeed this country was founded on God and the belief in the Holy Bible. This fact some wish to deny to make their own heathen existence seem more palatable.

The Pilgrims didn't form the government/country we know today. While many of our founding fathers were religious they went out of their way to keep government out of religion and religion out of government. They remembered why so many fled to the new world we now know as America.

I will admit that many of the laws and principles the country were founded on closely resemble Christian beliefs and thoughts they are actually more common sense than anything. At one time I too believed this country was founded in Christianity. After reading some of the writings from the founding fathers I came to the conclusion that while many of them were influenced by their religious convictions their statements about keeping religion and government separate were pretty clear.

God is not mentioned once in the Constitution. Period.

You would think if this country were grounded in Christianity there would at least be a passing mention of Jesus, or God for that matter.

As much as it pains me to agree.

The country was founded on freedom pure and simple.

I can call rjd every thing in the book and piss on his ideas but the stupid thing is we unite for the common good when called upon and kick some major behind!

They were very careful not to bring any religious language or doctrine into the language used in the Constitution. They knew that a young country was very vulnerable to the competing religious factions at the time. If any group could lay claim to the anything in it, it would create just enough spark to ignite unrest and threaten our young nations existence.

Why the rush for a system that won't take effect until 2013? And if it's so freakin' dire, why would it take that long to put in place?

I haven't seen a manufactured crisis like this since weapons of mass destruction.
