You justify a theocratical gov't because you swear in court....??????????

I am a bible thumper, but this is insanity!

Im not justifying anything. I am just saying God plays a big part in how and why we do things the way we do, including in government.

I do agree that moral decay is destroying this country, however I do not think Gov't dictating those morals is the answer. Especially at this point. You have to remember not all morals are the same. Things you find moral, are immoral to others and things they find moral are reprehensible to you. I know that sounds like moral relativism but that is not my angle. I do believe in black and white on many things, however, I also firmly believe that starting in Genesis, God made it very clear it was up to the individual to decide to follow Him. With that, it is up to US to make sure right and wrong is instilled in our future generations.

Remember, it all sounds fine and good on your morals: hey abortion is wrong so ya make it illegal! Gay Marriage is unnatural, it should be illegal! But for all those you agree with, there are people who say: keeping thermostat under 80 in summer is destroying the earth, make it illegal! Teaching your kids abstinence and Christianity defies logic, make it illegal! As we have seen in recent years, you can have a wide range of personalities running things, so I'd rather keep things that are personal decisions out of their grasp.

Point 1 is kind of at odds with point 2, or am I missing something in your statements?
When you say "us", we are part of a country and elect our officials that make OUR laws. Then you say that you do not want THEM to be a part of the "decisions". I am confused as to how you separate the two.

I was afraid of that, because I know I sound like a moral relativist in parts than an absolutist in others. Basically, the US was meant to be US as individuals in our private lives. We should be trying to teach right and wrong and how to live from our own homes, churches, and neighborhoods, not looking to the federal gov't to referee every aspect of our lives. Another elaboration, is I did start out with the Moral Decay statement, but I do not blame that on the Government. I blame that on the fact that everyone wants to go through life on auto pilot and not take any blame or consequences to poor decisions.

I thought that is where you were going with the last post. Just wanted to make sure.
We are in agreement on the government and the responsibility of individuals aspect. Good post.
