Obama to address the Nation. (Osama bin Laden is dead)

I don't really care if they torture KSM or Bin Laden. Not the liberal thing to say, but I'm not very liberal on matters of punishing terrorists.

I just think crediting Bush Era waterboarding for Osama's head shot is revisionist. Would expect nothing less, though.

A lot of things led to the death of OBL. Chances are high that we would have gotten the information without torture.

I think we got initial information 4 years ago from waterboarding, the trail went completely cold, we got additional intel very recently and were able to hunt him down based upon the new info.

The conservatives will credit the initial info for leading to his capture.

I mean, it's national security; Republicans had to be the ones in charge!

One thing that crossed my mind today was how ridiculously faulty of an error it was by obl to use the same courier for that long.

I don't think he was a simple errand boy. I believe I read that he was involved in training the 9/11 hijackers. I'm sure the radius of OBL's inner-circle had shrunk considerably.

exactly...sowhat's it matter whether Waterboarding was used or not
In this case the end justifies the means

I'm just happy that it's outlawed now. And we'll never for sure know how we got the information and exactly what led to the operation.

Agree and I get it. Still, obl may have been evil, but he was smart. That just seems like a major mistake to make when trying to hide.

Then again, maybe he was that confident that captured associates wouldn't give too much info.

Yea maybe one day terrorism will be outlawed too & folks won't have to jump off skyscrapers to be kept from burning alive because these f****d up extremists decide to hijack planes & crash them into the side of them. How can you feel an ounce of sympathy for someone who's sole purpose is to kill & wreak terror on the free world. How about our guys scattered across the middle east who undoubtedly cringe every time somebody gets near them because they constantly are blowing themselves up taking our guys with them.

Agreed. I never quite understood that either.

If it's just about results, then torture away. But I don't think that is what the debate on torture, and what constitutes torture, is just about results.

Not everyone they torture knows something or is guilty of something. How would you like it if you happened to be taken prisoner, innocent but presumed in possession of knowledge, and then tortured to get the information? Are they going to get correct information or are you going to tell them what they want to hear? Even though you don't have the info that they want...

if we're gonna blame bush for things being bad in obama's term might as well give him credit for when it's good

most were captured on the battlefield. I have a hard time viewing them as innocent

if i CHOOSE to associate myself with terrorists or those associated with terrorism and am caught, no matter what i do or don't know, i deserve to have a stick of dynamite shoved up my ass and the end lit after my hands were taped together in front of my body
