I agree, Bush shouldn't have been wasteful. However, I am skeptical anytime "mediamatters" backs an article.

Also this claim has no supporting evidence. "It is likely that the Bush administration spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on vacations, but the false outrage machine is on overdrive due to one Obama Christmas vacation." Likely? Okay, I can easily say it is just as likely Obama has spent more considering his term isn't even over yet.

The left seems to be hell bent on "well if Bush did it we can do it". I thought the whole point of getting Obama in office was because he WASN"T going to do what Bush did. I recall Bush getting hammered by the MSM whenever he went to Texas to his ranch.

No, its not that Obama defenders say that, if Bush did it he can, too. Its the hypocrisy of the far right in criticizing something every president does, and making it falsely seem like Obama is some sort of outlier.

And, if ircc, the criticism of Bush at the time was more that he seemed so disconnected from a lot of the problems brewing as he took these frequent breaks. Yes, the expense issue was brought up, but that is more acute, now. And of course the far right is trying to draw an analogy between the expense of a presidential vacation and all the fiscal problems we have.

This issue, like so many others, I think is just a complete waste of time. Anyone bothered by the expense of this vacation already hates, or at least was already going to vote against Obama, anyway. Anyone who rolls their eyes at the far right over this was not going to change their support for Obama.

Agree. Whining every time a President goes on vacation or plays golf is a waste of time.

It is a waste of time. For Obama, it has some legs (tiny) because he is continually talking about the excesses of the rich and having enough money already and how we need to cut back and "eat our peas". Same as when social conservatives have moral lapses.
