They had better acting but they had no clear direction from the start and it showed. They could’ve been epic but they were just meh and forgettable and bringing the Emperor back was just awful and reeked of desperation.

First 3 was a solid story arc marred by bad acting/dialogue and too much green screen. Lucas had too many yes people around him. But they still felt like Star Wars....mostly.

Last 3 were a trainwreck because there was no Kevin Feige type to keep the overall story together. The first one was good enough I guess; at the time I thought it was too much of a retread of ANH but again it still felt SW. TLJ is where it went off the rails. Abrams had set up the story and thought they were all in agreement where it was going, and Johnson pissed all that away. Then Abrams had to come back and try to somehow salvage it and it was...extremely meh and made little sense. The scripts that got abandoned, while still a bit too retread, sound so much better.

nothing is that bad.

The last trilogy is not just bad for Star Wars movies. The last 2 of the trilogy are some of the worst movies I've ever watched and I'll never watch them again. I'm blocking them out like they never happened

You mean like with Count Dooku? That was the best. Certainly Hayden's performance was Oscar worthy.View attachment 458987
Even Obi-Wan and Yoda’s dialogues were cringey in the prequels. Lucas created the Star Wars story and I’ve never begrudged him his choices but I agree with the large number of detractors after the Empire Strikes Back. Lucas left to his own devices loved him some corny, cartoonish shite.

Think it was because of his grands at that point.
