Obvious to me are two things after yesterday's disappointment....

Holy run-on sentence, Batman. I don't think a bama loss is the end of the world. However, this was a very beatable bama team and we had a decent shot. That's what makes this truly sting. As for a running QB, I do think it is telling when I'm watching the FSU/Duke game and am envious of their QB. I should never be envious of a Duke QB. Yet, here we are.
I didn't write that post----pay attention

Just like all the great winning qbs in the NFL our qb must run more, a lot more, and as FSU did have, two losses , when the Vols beat them for the national championship, Auburn did back in the days of Sullivan and Beasley having two losses and a shot at winning it all, we have a long shot with two losses, it's , two losses, shouldn't be a death sentence, based on our remaining games. I suppose, Gators have to fall for certain.
A 9 win season with this team would be a success imo, and that’s still very possible

Thirteen s(!3) time this year we have gone for 1 yard on 4th down and made only three of the 13. Maybe in the future, we should try going around the end with an option of the QB to pitch the ball to another person as they go around.

Not 13 fourth and 1’s, 13 attempts total. Against AM alone we had one that was a 4th and 7 we didn’t convert.

Thank you, my cry in the wilderness " can we do any other play besides run up the middle " ?

I don't have a problem with the " run Milton more" approach. If you remember he had his greatest gains running out to the right or left and NOT running up the middle where they had stuffed us all game long. This game stung because we had a senior starting qb with Bama having a first year qb just like Florida did. We should have won both these games. These opportunities don't come around often and we squandered them. Next year, we start a new Qb and Florida/Bama/Georgia will be playing with a 2nd year starters. This was our year and it was just wasted away by restricting JM and the entire offense. Throw the darn ball and let your players make plays.
JM has restricted JM and the offense

Normal Joe is a one decision qb. The pitch gives him a second decision other than when to cut upfield. Run QB power with him or lead draws and we can be even better on the ground
Yeah.... I am starting to come around to this. Joe doesn't have much vision beyond where he is going to throw the ball. I find that disappointing to say the least. So why not play to his strengths instead of trying to make him something he isn't? Like a friend of mine says, Joe can throw it over the ocean, but he can't throw it IN the ocean. So why make him try? Let's become a run run run team, and occasionally when the stars line up he can throw.

Quick snap, qb dive under center, behind Mays, with a 6’5” 240lb qb. Almost impossible to stop for a yard

I said we’d lose 4 games this year.
We beat A&M so we’re ahead of the chains in my prediction.
I sure as hell didn’t expect to lead B*** at halftime.
Sure I’m disappointed with the loss but it’s nice to be competitive in these games again

No doubt. This program has come a long, long way in a short time. So many lose sight of that.

Even Bama and Georgia know that they better show up to play us again. Not an automatic W for them anymore

I think the coaching staff is managing him as best as they can. The playbook is limited with him.

Nick Satan is on record not wanting to play us every year.
Everyone let that sink in. The guy who once had UT as a given victory wants out of the series.

I wonder why?

Not sure I follow the logic to become a run run offense when you look at the game yesterday where our passing game got us up 20-7 at half time only to go run run game and watch Bama take over the game. I still say we should have thrown every down, keeping the foot on the gas , and hope the refs start calling the PI's (know they missed more than a few) even it the pass is not caught. Yesterday in 2nd half, we did the same almost on every possession, run, run, pass and punt. It's easy to defend when they know what play is coming every snap. I say throw the ball and let the guys make plays. The run, run game plan did not work, at least with Bama

That's kind of a cop out. We have a pretty good stable of running backs. Our receivers are mediocre at best with the possible exception of Squirrel, so that ain't on Joe.

Oh brother! This was most definitely not our year! Bamas QB is not a first year nor is UF’s.
We shouldn’t of beaten Bama, there’s a reason they were a 9 point favorite.
I’m gonna stop because I really don’t want to go on but about everything you posted is
Wrong.

The problem is that guys ain't making the plays. This forum is full of critique about how Joe sucks, but he has no help. (Squirrel excepted) Everyone else is mediocre and inconsistent. Yes, Bama did what we thought they would, they loaded the box and stuffed the run, and I was disappointed in Josh's play calling in that regard. I would have loved to see more of those bubbles that would have opened things up more.

I think this team goes to sleep in the third quarter. Seems to be the one thing we consistently do.

It's going to be tough beating KY, GA, and Mizzou. Not sure we'll do it. Maybe split KY and Mizzou, not sure.

JM avg 6.7 runs per game...HH was 9.45. Less then 3 attempts per game...how much yall want him to run. 20 times. He.is.not a freaking RB...I'm learning here that JM will never get a fair shake from TN fans

We are not winning anything meaningful this year so give up on the scenarios for making Atlanta. Georgia is pretty much a lock now.

However, Tennessee could still win 8 or 9 games and make a Bowl Game. Then if they win the bowl game, that is a 9/10 win season. I would call that a success.

Unfortunately, we are not a top program. We always have superior SEC programs in front of us. Even in the 1990s, we got punked every year by Florida even though we had left Alabama behind that decade. Then after Florida fell off, it was Alabama (or Alabama, Florida, and Georgia). Now it is Georgia in the way.

Tennessee just can't get elite and go on runs like Alabama did, Georgia now, or Florida under Urban Meyer. We are not that good of a program.

Wrong.
Both of the qb's at Fla and Bama may have saw some play time last year, but they were not the starting QB's. Same for Georgia. Those qb's will be more seasoned next year, so by that standard, this was our best chance to knock them off. Bama has looked average at best all year and not in the top 10 for most of the season. Florida is even worse. Georgia has also struggled this year. Tons of folks on this site and the tv analysts have talks about how Bama is not the usual Bama. We should have won both the Florida and Bama game.
