Really enjoyed the call once I figured out how to get the Marshals game, guy is a pro. A little discussion of whats happened to the Texas League over the past few years, financially, and a good impression of JFK, from a native of Dallas, where he was shot...and it was free.

Summer ball is cool. Unless you're a parent, probably a big pain in the ass.

That's it for tonight...Pruett went 3/4...2 singles, a double and 3 RBI, they win 5-3...GBO!!!

Westhampton Aviators ‏@WHAviators 1h1 hour ago
.@bigticket_6 made the top story on @HamptonsLeague website after yesterday's win.

WESTHAMPTON 9, SOUTHAMPTON 2
Jack Massa (Canisius) made a good first impression on his new teammates, going 3 for 4 in his Aviator debut as he and his squad handed Southampton its first loss.

Westhampton’s offense followed up a strong opener – a 6-2 win Wednesday – with a 10-hit effort against the Breakers. After Massa, AJ Montoya (Toledo) and Mark Osis (George Washington) each had two hits and two RBI, while Colin Brockhouse (Ball State) recorded a pair of hits as well.

The Aviators broke open a tight game with a four-run fifth inning off Southampton’s Jesse Roth (Penn). With Westhampton holding a 3-2 lead, Osis ripped an opposite-field double that brought in two runs. After another scored on a wild pitch, Tyler Piccolo (Dowling) put the finishing touches on the outburst, ripping a two-out RBI single to put the Aviators up 7-2.

Westhampton banked on a strong bullpen performance to bring home the win. Quint Robinson (Tennessee) pitched 2 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out three en route to the win, and Evan Marquardt (Ball State) held the Breakers hitless in his two frames.

Matt DiLeo (Oakland) and Joe Poduslenko (Seton Hall) each drove in a run for Southampton, while Drew Arciuolo (Fairfield) was the lone Breaker with multiple hits.

Weekend Update - 6/5/15

Some players have touched down in the Cape Cod and in Alaska, all will be at their summer destinations this weekend. Both leagues start play on Tuesday.

Each Friday for the next couple of months I thought I'd write about a player involved in summer ball and today, for a couple of reasons, it's Eric Freeman. First he's a hometown kid who graduated from Farragut and most folks have probably forgotten about the redshirt freshman. That would be easy to do as he has only pitched one inning.

Due to TJ surgery, he did not play his senior year of high school. He redshirted last season. He went to the New England Collegiate last summer and pitched for Laconia and his 27.2 innings pitched and 19 appearances was the most of any of the relievers. He had a six game stretch where he did not allow a run and his ERA was 3.08. He had a couple of rough outings the last month of the season and finished with a 4.23 ERA.

Though he hasn't played much ball for Tennessee, he's been named to the SEC Community Service Team both in 2014 and 2015. He's the kind of kid you root for which brings me to reason number two for leading off with Freeman.

He did not pitch last night for the Valley Blue Sox, also of the NEBCL, so there's a chance he might pitch tonight. Tonight's game has a free stream, the rest of the season, you have to pay $8 per game for the stream...which I doubt any of us would do.

Should he get into the game, I'll post the link. I hope he has a productive summer and of course I'll be sharing his info/stats as the next couple of months go by...the way the draft looks right now, we're going to need all the arms we can get.

GBO!!!
