Official AFCCG Thread - Patriots @ Broncos

Being born and raised in Knoxville and graduating from UT, I dont have an nfl team. Honestly my only team is UT (not pulling out the fan card here just saying). The Titans are in the state but I didnt grow up with them, they just relocated from another city. And Im not the person that just randomly picks an nfl team thats miles and miles away and says their "my team"...that doesnt make sense to me. Soooo by default I pull for Peyton's team and teams with numerous UT players.

This is me

K, so question about Ronnie Lott's greatness. I barely remember watching him....how good would he be in today's NFL. I know he was a beast against the run, but how would he fare in the pass happy NFL? Would his legend be as strong?

Well he was a 4 time pro bowler and 2 time all pro at CB before being switched to safety really early in his career. So he would be great imo.

It was a true statement. Have you never heard the Brady praise? Every argument for him being better than another qb is "his receivers are trash and he is still awesome" now he has sucky receivers being blamed for him not looking like an all star.

So because of this game that negates all of the other games he has won with crappy WRs? The Brady hate is insane. I don't like the Patriots but give credit where it is do. Who was Brady's biggest target this year, Eldleman? I mean come on. How many other QBs could have made it to the AFC title game with that kind of WR corps?

Honest question, do you think Brady could have put up the same kind of stats Peyton did if he had the Broncos WR corps?

Possibly. The last time Brady had an elite receiver in a completely pass first offense he set the old record for TD's in a season and won 18 straight games.

No joke, I put the jersey on her and she immediately went nuts barking at Belichick on the TV. Wish I coulda snapped that.

Great looking pup but he/she he looks just like one a friend of mine has....she adopted and named him Kiffin a few years ago....she calls him everything but by his given name, IE 'baby, sweetie', big boy', anything that comes to mind...of course we try to work his name into almost every sentence with her we can...

Go Broncos!

Was it just me or did the CBS announcers seem to be really playing "the rivalry" between the best quarterback in football and Brady and most seeming to predict Brady was better! I noticed after the game the hype was no more.

It blows my mind when these morons try to make us believe this was between Manning and Brady and not the Broncos and Patriots. I think Manning is better but this game was not the final test! GO VOLS AND GO BRONCOS!:clapping:

Seattle would give Denver a better shot to win. SF has too many weapons. Their defenses are pretty much a wash.
That's what I'm leaning towards too, especially with how well SF defense is playing so far. I'd be worried about Willis and Bowman playing zones for those short crossing routes and just busting heads.

Same way Irsay short changed Peyton, by not drafting or paying defensive talent. :twocents:

The freaking media created that rivalry.

who among you were bronco fans before peyton's arrival?

just curious

I hated the Broncos when Tebow played for them and loved it when Patriots knocked them out of playoffs few years ago (even though I hate the Patriots as well).

Do you think Brady would have fared as well as Manning given the crappy players on the Colts?

What really irritates me is that people want to give credit to Brady for what he accomplished this season and have completely ignored the circumstances that Manning dealt with with the 09 Colts. That season, Manning lost Clark for the year and Wayne missed lots of time. He was given Garçon, Collie, Moorehead, and Tamme. Two of those guys were rookies and Tamme was in his 2nd season. Not to mention that Manning's primary RB was a rookie. And manning still took that team to the Super Bowl.

Possibly. I mean he is one of the best to ever play. So to be clear, Wayne, Harrison, Clark, Tammae, Stokley, Collie, Garçon and Gonzales are crappy right?

No offense but you're wrong. Wayne did not miss a game in 2009 and was one of the best WR in the league. Clark did not miss a game in 2009 either. He was one of the best TEs in the league. Clark missed 2010. Addai was not a rookie in 2009.

Like him or not Brady has had MUCH less to work with. Now if Gronk had been healthy all year then maybe the arguments would be different. If you cannot look at what. Brady has done unbiasedly and respect what he has done with only 2 great receivers in his career then that's sad.

I seem to remember Austin collie being a major target in Indy for several years yet he couldn't stay on he team this year with all of those terrible WRs. Its just so obvious that manning is so far and away the best in the game. What he does and the way he does it is just so far and beyond any of these other guys its sad. Brady had no chance today because the guy on the other side was just to good. Nothing manning did today required elite WRs.

Addai wasn't good. Who picked him up after the Colts cut him loose? No one. It's not like he was old.

Brady had less to work with this year but it's biased to act like he's only had 2 real receivers (assuming you mean Moss and Welker). Troy Brown, Aaron Hernandez, Deion Branch, Gronkowski to name a few that are equal to Colts guys (not counting Wayne and Harrison - Manning's 2 real receivers + guys like Stokley, Collie, Garcon).

IOW, Brady wasn't playing with scrubs. Like Manning, he made receivers and TEs better.

What's the consensus on the Welker/Talib play?

I kinda doubt it was dirty, but the way it looks it could go either way. Welker's guy put hands on him, changing his course a bit and it looks like Welker just braced for impact. Then again, it could have just been a slick disguise for a dirty hit. It was legal, though. DT had already caught the ball.
