Official AFCCG Thread - Patriots @ Broncos

What's the consensus on the Welker/Talib play?

I kinda doubt it was dirty, but the way it looks it could go either way. Welker's guy put hands on him, changing his course a bit and it looks like Welker just braced for impact. Then again, it could have just been a slick disguise for a dirty hit. It was legal, though. DT had already caught the ball.

I just saw this play on first take. Not sure if it was dirty, but Welker hit him before DT dropped the pass.

Didn't the patriots run a similar play resulting in an injury to a Denver corner earlier in the game?

Brady had less to work with this year but it's biased to act like he's only had 2 real receivers (assuming you mean Moss and Welker). Troy Brown, Aaron Hernandez, Deion Branch, Gronkowski to name a few that are equal to Colts guys (not counting Wayne and Harrison - Manning's 2 real receivers + guys like Stokley, Collie, Garcon).

IOW, Brady wasn't playing with scrubs. Like Manning, he made receivers and TEs better.

Garcon has proved to be a good receiver w/o Manning. Led the NFL in receptions this year

I was meaning this year. I mean his top receiver was Edleman and they still made it to the AFC title game. You have to admit it, that's impressive. No Gronk, Hernandez, Brown, Moss, Welker, Woodhead and Amendola has not been truly healthy the whole season. Even still the Pats had the 3rd best scoring offense in the NFL. That says a lot about. Tom Brady.

All I am trying to say is Brady has not had the receiving corps that Peyton had this year and he still managed to have the 3rd best scoring offense. That fact and what the Pats have done this season with all of their injuries, and being one of the youngest teams in the NFL is extremely impressive.

Nothing Brady did this year was very impressive. He didn't put up big numbers in spite of not having great receivers. If he had a big in spite of this receivers you would have a point. Plenty of teams have had great numbers despite not having a great passing game. How in the world does the credit go to the qb? I'm still trying to figure out how they cut collie 4 times if their receivers were so awful.

I understand that as a Vol and Peyton fan I am not allowed to give credit to Brady but your post lost all credibility in your first sentence. Nothing he did was impressive? Brady finished 6th in passing yards, 11th in TD passes, 7th in yards per game while being the 9th most sacked QB in the NFL. No WR for the Pats scored more than 6 TD's and only 1 had over 1000 yards receiving. Brady's number may be down compared to his usual numbers but they were still good.

How does the credit go to the QB?? Brady accounted for 68% of their offensive out put. Manning accounted for 75% of Denver's output. So Manning gets most of the credit for Denver's success but Brady gets no credit for Patriots success? Sorry but your comments are stupid. Without Brady the Pats would have been lucky to win 4 games this year.

This by far Brady's most motley crew of WRs he's ever had. Despite that he still won 12 games and got to the AFCCG. Pus his defense was a patchwork of players.

As a Manning fan I can still give Brady credit.

Agree about this year and I think Brady is one of the best ever.

His numbers are slightly above average. He's supposedly the greatest ever. Your hero went out there yesterday and did absolutely nothing until Denver went into a prevent. One threw 32 more TD passes in 18 games and you have the gall to compare their numbers. Its unbelievable.

Agree with your post generally. Not so much on the defense comparison. Denver played most of the season without one of the most disruptive players in the game in Von Miller, as well as losing Chris Harris for the game with the Pats and clearly having some issues mid-season. The Pats D played more like what PM had with the Colts all those years. The Pats hid it well with a better than expected run game that controlled the clock.

But it does point out that D performance influences public perception of a QB. However, the players know the real world. Brady is a great QB and you are spot on when it comes the WR statement. Brady is highly respected and has proven himself time and time again. But all of the players and coaches alike admire PM.

PM is the best ever because of how he runs the entire offense and can control the outcome of games regardless of the D's performance. Hope he gets this SB win to shut the critics up forever.
