Official Book Thread - What You're Reading & Everything Book Related (merged)

I have not read for fun in years.

I am a huge HP Overdraft fan and early Stephen King Dark Half or prior. I felt his wife began writing his books after that.

Any advice?

I would love a good Newer stephen king book but he just seemed to lose it after needful things.

Thanks.

Buick is a good one

Right now I am in the middle of The Remaining series by DJ Molles. It is 28 days later meets The Walking Dead, and I am really enjoying it.

Up next I am going to finish of Hugh Howeys Silo trilogy by reading Dust

The coked up and alcoholic King books are FAR superior to current sober King. IT is still and always will be one of if not my favorite Horror bovel

Swan song by Robert Mccammon is still the greatest post apocalyptic novel ever written imo. I have read it at least 5 times over the past 20 years. I love The Stand but Swan Song is simply the best

Agreed on Swan Song. Both books are at the top of that specific genre, imo.

I read and enjoyed it. Try Existentialism is a Humanism

Not sure I'd label it quite "enjoyable" at the moment. Quite tedious (unnecessarily). Having said that, there are parts of the book that wonderful and amazing. Just such a mixed bag at the moment (although the latter part is suppose to be better).

As for Existentialism is a Humanism, I've heard it is much more readable and concise. There are definitely times when I wish I was reading that instead of Being and Nothingness.

It is less layered and more digestible the first time through.

On a side note have you ever read anything of Alan Watts? He is one of my favorite philosophers

I would also recommend The Passage and The Twelve by Justin Cronin. The final book in the series called City of Mirrors is about to be released. This trilogy is a must read to anyone that enjoys Sci-Fi, Horror, and Post Apocalyptic stories in general.

I can see that in an understandable way. I guess I'm trying to digest it whole on the first read without much success. However, I'm not much of a psychology so the internal ontology of the for-self is tough sledding.

Had you read Husserl and Heidegger prior to Being and Nothingness?

Have you read "The Survivalist Series" from A. American? The first book is titled "Going Home"!

I'm about 20 years behind but I just started the Harry Potter series with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone after trying to acquire the books over the last couple of years.

I now have all of them but the last one and only paid $1.00 each for 3 of them (at Friends of the Library sale) and the others free thanks to Listia.com all Hardback 1st Editions!
