Official Boxing thread

Do you have a stream for it? Everything I'm finding requires veetle and I've never had much luck with that.

That site doesn't have the fight listed under live sports. Thanks for trying though.

Did I already miss it or are there other sites?

Unless Alfredo Angulo comes out of hiding, Yuriorkis Gamboa is the next big name in the sport. What torque on the punches. And Solis isn't world class, but he's not a manequin either.

Damn. Thought it was under live sports. I see HBO now though.

For future reference, do I need to download anything for this site? It keeps saying loading and if I click the watch button, the page turns white. Something isn't working for me. Maybe my computer is just trash.

No, just go to the channel, watch the ad, and don't click anything.

unsure, look at hbo.com/boxing or shobox.com
my boy morales is on a PPV card, think thats the next big event, that site doesnt have them.

Damn, Gamboa looked good last night! That's the kind of performance I've been waiting to see from him. Last time out he would show glimpses but then start a clinch fest, glad he stayed away from that last night. Now the question is whether or not they'll finally get him in the ring with JuanMa? There is really nobody left for either of them. If that isn't each of their next fights then somebody is ducking or the promoters are screwing things up.

Was outta town last night and missed the fight. You all got me dying to watch it. Going to have to go find it.

Nothing of note next week but April is a good month. Morales is on the 9th, the 2nd has probably the last chance to see Calderon bc I don't think he can win the rematch and he'll probably retire after that. His time has passed but he was truly one of the most dominant guys around for the last decade, just nobody knew about him bc hardly anyone notices the guys that small. Then later in the month you have a Khan fight and a Berto fight.

Well after watching the fight last night I think that if Gamboa and Juan Man Lopez were to fight tomorrow...Gamboa knocks him out.

Marquez had Lopez hurt a couple of times and he punches no where near as hard as Gamboa. Gamboa is also the fastest fighter I have seen in a while.

Gamboa is wild though, which could hurt him.

He's got to knock off that stuff to the back of the head. In a close fight against someone like Lopez, a point or two can be a big deal.

Pavlik will be on the Mosley Pac yndercard, clad to see him back, what a quick fall.

Maybe he's got his house back in order.

Looks as if the idea of a third fight for Pac-JMM might finally be coming to an end. Marquez was thought to be looking into leaving Golden Boy, like Mosely did, in order to make a fight with Manny happen. If he reups with GB that will probably signal the end of a possible trilogy. Probably the right move for all involved. I must admit that the idea of JMM-Zab fight does kind of intrigue me.

Boxing - Juan Manuel Marquez Update

Now the question is whether or not they'll finally get him in the ring with JuanMa? There is really nobody left for either of them. If that isn't each of their next fights then somebody is ducking or the promoters are screwing things up.

And before you start hoping for a Lopez-Gamboa clash to follow perhaps this summer or fall, you might want to take that down a notch. Lopez has started to talk about moving up in weight, while Gamboa has given no indication that he's interested in going north of the division just yet.

"I really feel strong at 126," Lopez said. "I'm eating well. I'm doing my diet the proper way. I definitely feel better than I did at 122 and I'm much stronger. But I may be moving up after the end of the year."

Ugghh

I guess Gamboa needs some waist ornaments before he moves up, his build and style makes me think he could probably be a champion at 140 if he wanted to work towards that...

You would think one of the 2 Juan Manuel's would be next on the radar, unless they are still thinking he needs to be protected.

They say JMM is now angling towards a show with Zab Judah.

My hometown kid "Bad" Chad Dawson is going to be fighting in the co-feature on the Hopkins/Pascal night.

Hometown kid Elvin Alaya fought last night on FNF, he was a fringe contender for a while, maybe he can work back to top 20 in class.

David Lemieux/Marco Antonio Rubio on FNF next week, should be a great lead in to the Saturday card, which looks good, with Morales/Maidana headlining, with Katsidis, Malinaggi, Nate Campbell, and James Kirkland also on the card.

Hoping they show all of those fights.

Also next Saturday, if you aren't watching the HBO card, Tomasz Adamek is fighting Kevin "He Bit My Nipple" McBride.

If you've got 40 minutes or so, do yourself a favor and look up the Luis Concepcion v. Hernan Marquez fight from over the weekend. If nothing else, watch the first round. I don't catch every fight out there but I'd be shocked if this wasn't the leader in the clubhouse for FOTY.

I haven't got around to looking that one up yet.

Dueling cards tonight, Lemeuix/Rubio on FNF should be good, and ShoBox has a show as well. Sucks that they both come on at 11, I really should move into the DVR age.
