Hopefully now that ward won hbo can set up the fight of GGG/ward at a catch weight so we can finally see if golovkin is worth the praise or just a really good boxer with a less than stellar resume
I think that fight would be a good fight one way or another. I just hope GGG tries to get this fight instead of cashing in and fighting canelo because canelo is a beast and would more than likely take his lunch then make him watch him eat it
Be shocked if we don't see Ward in there with Kovalev again, and probably 2 more times considering that most people didn't even have him winning the first one last night but, you know, boxing and all.
Disagree with pretty much all of this.
I figured that might be the case. I had a migraine last night so I closed my eyes right after ward got rocked and opend them a couple hours later but I was going to see if that was the case during the replay on hbo next week. Since I'm guessing that you saw it did you have kovalev winning and if so by how much?
And to the 2nd point yeah I was on migraine medicine so I might have over sold that just a tad. I think that GGG would have an easier time with ward than canelo
It was a close fight for sure and not easy to score but I would have probably had either 115-112 or 114-113 for Kovalev.
I think Gennady would have an easier time with Alvarez for two reasons, a) he'd be the naturally bigger guy in that fight which I always think can be a factor in catchweight fights and b) I just don't really think all that much of Canelo, to me he's a good but not great fighter.
Yeah, gonna be interesting to see how it plays out but I think VL might be one of the best P4P. I love watching this guy fight.
So that Alvarez - Chavez debacle is actually going to happen.
Greeeeeeeeeaaaaaat.
On cinco de mayo weekend, will probably get a million buys and they will feel no pressure whatsoever to put anything worth a **** on the undercard. I do like how Canelo couldn't go to 160 for Golovkin but he's going to 164 for this nonsense.
Did the fight live up to the hype? I was watching the francisco vargas fight on hbo which was the prototypical fight between 2 Mexican fighters i.e. hit each other with hundreds of punches until one can't take it anymore
