Gary Jr. not only calling his shot on unification but then saying he's going up and calling out Lomachenko? Interesting.

Fun facts, Kell Brook is outweighing GGG by a lot in the preliminary scales, don't really know what to make of it. Me thinks he'll be a bit sluggish, no bueno.

Also, old news, but GGG once KO'd Kovalev with a body shot in a sparring session.

Kovalev-Ward is this weekend. this is the first fight in a while that I'm really looking forward to, hopefully it lives up to the hype

Hopefully now that ward won hbo can set up the fight of GGG/ward at a catch weight so we can finally see if golovkin is worth the praise or just a really good boxer with a less than stellar resume

I think that fight would be a good fight one way or another. I just hope GGG tries to get this fight instead of cashing in and fighting canelo because canelo is a beast and would more than likely take his lunch then make him watch him eat it

Be shocked if we don't see Ward in there with Kovalev again, and probably 2 more times considering that most people didn't even have him winning the first one last night but, you know, boxing and all.

Disagree with pretty much all of this.

I figured that might be the case. I had a migraine last night so I closed my eyes right after ward got rocked and opend them a couple hours later but I was going to see if that was the case during the replay on hbo next week. Since I'm guessing that you saw it did you have kovalev winning and if so by how much?

And to the 2nd point yeah I was on migraine medicine so I might have over sold that just a tad. I think that GGG would have an easier time with ward than canelo

It was a close fight for sure and not easy to score but I would have probably had either 115-112 or 114-113 for Kovalev.

I think Gennady would have an easier time with Alvarez for two reasons, a) he'd be the naturally bigger guy in that fight which I always think can be a factor in catchweight fights and b) I just don't really think all that much of Canelo, to me he's a good but not great fighter.

That's what the people on the internet were saying that it was close but to get that score almost every close round had to go to ward. I know punch stats aren't the end all be all and always don't tell the whole story but just from looking at them it looks like kovalev did enough to win especially with a knockdown.

Besides the weight I feel the same way about ward since he's comeback

Yeah, gonna be interesting to see how it plays out but I think VL might be one of the best P4P. I love watching this guy fight.

Gonna have to bump my own post just because, although Ward-Kovalev got more main stream attention, this weekend is the fight that I've been looking forward to.

Lomachenko-Walters has the chance to be a very good fight and anytime Vasyl is on TV is a good night.

So that Alvarez - Chavez debacle is actually going to happen.

Greeeeeeeeeaaaaaat.

On cinco de mayo weekend, will probably get a million buys and they will feel no pressure whatsoever to put anything worth a **** on the undercard. I do like how Canelo couldn't go to 160 for Golovkin but he's going to 164 for this nonsense.

Unbelievable. How long will Chavez get his face bashed in for before he takes a knee?

He might be the most protected fighter of all time, a moneymaking prop.

Frampton and Santa Cruz going at it again tonight. Anybody watching?

Did the fight live up to the hype? I was watching the francisco vargas fight on hbo which was the prototypical fight between 2 Mexican fighters i.e. hit each other with hundreds of punches until one can't take it anymore

It was good but not quite as good as the original. Granted the original was a fight of the year so not easy to live up to.

My "Wow!" though was about the Mikey Garcia KO. It was impressive...and then very scary.
