Official Dave Hart is a genius thread.

Cute. I knew I recognized you.

Nah, not a tough guy, just tired of all the crap.

Your ridiculous thread, which is in response to a serious thread where real discussion by thoughtful individuals was taking place ( http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...cial-dave-hart-officially-woefully-inept.html ), misses the point of the motherthread entirely.

Your ridiculous thread, which I didn't even take time to read because of the nature of it, is inconsequential to me.

Nowhere in the thread that I started do I state that I thought Gruden was coming, or that he was the only savior of Tennessee football, or make any reference to his Super Bowl ring (to which you obviously have a severe case of penis envy). No, that thread is about the botching of the coaching search from a PR standpoint by the AD Dave Hart. You can disagree with that premise all you want. Many do. However, those who have read that thread and disagree with me have one MAJOR advantage over you. That is, they can understand what they read. We in the grown up world call that reading comprehension.

Does this mean we're not friends anymore?? I just don't think I could live with myself if we weren't friends.

How was the coaching search botched, in your opinion?? Let's hear your REAL reason. I'll wait.

It is unfortunate that I have to resort to such a condescending tone in this response, but I am afraid it is the only way to get through to your adolescent mind.

In summation:

1. You think I'm a tool, even though you have never met me, don't know me at all, and can't even understand the premise of the thread I created that gave you this impression of me in the first place. Really? Nah, it's because I thought your thread was silly.

2. You can't comprehend what you read. ACTUALLY, I'm pretty good at that, but I'm not real good at deciphering stupid.

3. Your mind is not capable of translating its own thoughts onto paper, therefore the thread you created simply uses the template I set out for you. I actually thought you were being funny by copying my thread. I have now realized that is not the case because a sense of humor requires a personality and charisma, which you obviously lack. I pity you. I think my feelings are hurt. Lemme check.........wait, nope, that's gas. Do you feel better now, though???

:peace2:

And oh, yeah, you're a big doody head.

Been here 3 years and 6 months longer than you, amigo. Kinda telling for someone that's "not a Vol fan". And how is my motive to get a rise out of people, because I don't worship at the First Football Church of Gruden??

Get over yourself, Chief. People wanted Gruden because more than likely he would've assembled the best staff in college football, recruited with the best teams, and given the fan-base something to be excited about. Making fun of people for having high hopes for the same program you root for seems kind of like a jack*** move to me. With that said, there are other viable candidates, but to act like he wouldn't have success here is pretty stupid.:peace2:

To act like he would be an instant national title contender year in and year out is just as stupid.

I can't help but laugh at the idiots who got all riled up over a bunch of rumors spouted from forum "insiders".

And if you actually take the time to read some of my previous posts, you'll see that he's already been there done that, and failed miserably. I went through that when he was coach in Tampa. I can live with it happening to the Bucs, but my allegiance to the Vols is what made me start all this. I will NOT stand idly by and allow this jackwagon to destroy the Vols like he did the Buccaneers (cue the "it's not the NFL, it's the NCAA" argument). Fact of the matter is that he FAILED at his last job with grown men that were PAID to be there, what in God's name makes ANYONE think that he's going to do any better with 17-year olds that aren't being paid to be there???

Overreaction?

I think not.

If what LaMonte says is true and Dave Hart only reached out to him for the first time this morning as a courtesy.... He should get a pay raise.

You're the MAN, Mr. Hart.

The fact that he couldn't get Gruden is one thing. The fan base can get over that. Their hero isn't coming, and that pleases those of us that aren't blinded by a Super Bowl ring.

Letting the ring lickers, mouth breathers, self-proclaimed Grudenites and idolators erupt for the last two weeks while he apparently sat in his office NOT making a knee-jerk reaction, and doing what's in the best interests of the football program ?!?!

This is better than I could ever have imagined......Who cares that its not even close to being over, Gruden's not coming and that's AWESOME.

Put me in the group that thinks we might have an outstanding new AD as well.

/praise

Points for calling grudenites mouth breathers.

Fail = SB ? Belichick(sp) got canned in Cleveland, Reid is about to get tossed out of Philly, Marty got fired from SD after multiple 13-3/14-2 seasons, Jeff Fisher was released from the Titans but got hired by the Rams, Holmgren won a SB in GB and was fired, and Mike freaking Ditka was canned by the Bears. Are any of those guys "bad" coaches? HECK NO!! It's the NFL, it's a tough league with a lot of competition and parity. Gruden would have recruited on the level of Bama and would have had the best coaching staff ever assembled by a college program. Maybe Gruden wouldn't won tons of championships, that can be debated till the end of time but we all know he would have loaded us with talent like we've never experienced here before.. we would have been more loaded than we were under Fulmer in the late 90's. That sir is fact that nobody can deny.

I'll play, but only on the bold part, the other I've already beat to death. Can I borrow your crystal ball the next time the Powerball hits 500 million, though???

"Hey, Joe Schmuckatelli, I'm Jon Gruden the Head Coach at the University of Tennessee. We could use a five star QB/RB/TE/DE/OL/LB/CB/S like you on our team. Look at my Super Bowl ring for a minute"

"Coach, I don't want to play for Tennessee. My dream school is the University of Northern Nebraska, it's where every generation of males in my family have played football, and where I'm going to play football"

"Uh....."

Your turn. Isn't imagination FUN??? And for the record, yes, I'm denying it. Guess that makes me a nobody, huh??

Yes, a real genius. He said we need a proven coach, a real homerun. And then the list reads this: Golden, Fisher who turned us down and Strong. If this is anyone's idea of homerun hires then you are obviously playing in a different league than I am watching. Perhaps homerun for highschool. Now we sit and watch Arkansas get a homerun hire and Auburn get Patrino, who may have baggage but can coach and win in the SEC. That just puts two more teams ahead of us. We aren't hearing him go for names like Kelly or Davis or even Tressel who all would be homeruns. Instead we are settling for Strong or Golden or perhaps Gundy. What the heii is going on. I thought money wasn't an issue. It sure looks like we are taking another second place leftover to oversee our Vols and make a comeback. We are now backed into our own end zone and are punting again!

Did anyone else get their Tennessee Fund package in the mail yesterday? I think I will hold off on my decision for a while. I also noticed that my "pledge" reflected a 10% increase over last year. Depending on the hire, I will either have the same number of tickets and contribution as last year, half of that, or none at all.

I am choosing to look at it as good news, bad news.

Bad news is we may have yet another suck azz coach.

Good news is my disposable income will be up with no VF contribution.

As for the OP, read the thread about the interviews of the TN top HS recruits. Many/most said that they would reconsider UT if Gruden is the coach. No guarantee with anyone, but JG has star power plus the respect of some pretty good references (like Manning).
