Official GOP Convention thread

That they won't start WWIII. I believe so.

I truly believe Putin would like nothing better than a second term for Obama.

I'm not saying it would play out like Red Dawn, but he doesn't want anyone with a backbone when it comes to foreign relations.

These comments make zero sense to me.

And not quite sure what Assad has to do with this subject besides Putin sheltering the Syrian leadership and sending armaments to Assad loyalists. Least we not forget the ever negotiable Chinese-Russian UN vetoes on sanctions.

Not that hard.

I said his comment was non-presidential. You countered with the fact that Putin made similar remarks in the past. My point was that we should take the high road. Just because others do something, doesn't mean we should.

Assad was just an analogy. It could have been a suicide analogy. Anything analogy which underscores the principal of refuting "monkey see, monkey do".

Personally, I couldn't think that Romney dropping a hint that we won't be as soft in the future is the same as some of Putin's insane remarks. That's just me.

I don't disagree with this either. I just think he could have done it in a better way.

Lot of subtle racial undertones.

Speaking of racial undertones...

I thought this was funny. SIAP

Sorry to change the topic, I wasn't sure if this deserved its own thread or not.

No arrests as protesters taunt police in Tampa

The band of fewer than 100 "Occupy"-style protesters tried to taunt police officers by dangling bagels and donuts at the end of fishing poles. "I guess they thought that was funny," said Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor outside a downtown hotel, where she dealt with the protesters personally. The protesters took over intersections and refused to move for more than 15 minutes -- until getting up and asking police for directions to their next protest site.

I thought it was supposed to be the Tea Party that was fading into obscurity.

I still think winning the WH is an uphill battle for Romney. This convention introduced to America a group of outstanding young men and women to lead the republican party for years to come. I am not sure it was a good convention for Romney but it was a great convention for the future of the party.

The big talk this morning is Clint Eastwood and the empty chair.
Ann said she wasn't expecting that from Clint.

Clint is not what team Romney wanted to be the highlights of the morning shows the day after his big speech.

A fake newscast put out by ronPaul2008dotcom? Really?

Am I really supposed to be upset because the guy that wins the primary actually gets to control the delegates?

yes, because if Paulbots are to be believed, RP won every primary and every caucus. It's those bastards in the GOP Establishment that prevented him from being the nominee.

Somebody smarter than me needs to explain the logic here. They seem to be mad because in spite of what the voters decide, they want to be able to pull an end around with nonbinding delegates and either plant their own supporters or convince them to switch on the floor and nominate candidates like they did 50 years ago. How does that make sense?

Paul wasn't going to win, but it's pretty shameful what the GOP did. You gotta admit. Changing rules without proper ratification and whatnot. Stupid, especially since Paul wasn't going to win.
