Sorry youre going through that bud. My wifes grandma has dementia bad and just went to hospice. She doesn't know or care about anyone. Cusses like a sailor and is mean. She sat next to me in church the night i got up and put a foot in the aisle to go get saved on a Wed night in 2003. She was the only member of my wives or my family there. We sat together, she was always sweet to me. Sad to see her now, but I know it isn't her.

This is a really tough thing to deal with. I went through this with my grandmother. It’s heartbreaking to see someone you love and know loved you talk so foul and cruel. Very important to separate the person from the disease.

Ya know, every once in awhile this dementia shat is a little more than I can bare. Dad has hit the combative stage to any and all. It’s the saddest and most frustrating shat I’ve ever encountered and I’ve encountered plenty. You prospective politicians out there, you wanna impress me ... invest in true research that’ll find a cure for this bullshat.

I was my grandmother's caregiver for some of her last years. The combative stage was very difficult, and it came after the stage where I had to essentially explain to her every day that her husband had died a year earlier.

Sorry you're going through it.

Went through it with my mom. I attended a seminar put on by the Alzheimer's association that opened my eyes to a lot of techniques for dealing with AZ patients. I highly recommend going to one. Also, mention to your dad's doctors about his behavior, they have meds. To help with that.

If you want to bounce some ideas/questions off me, I Will gladly share my experiences. Regardless, you are in my thoughts.

I'll offer a different example. A couple of days ago I read an article as I recall pushing induction cooktops - praising the efficiency and in the article condemning "dirty gas". That's become a "political" issue as well when you get right down to it. For a long time NG was considered clean energy, but now there's a campaign to trash it. What wasn't even mentioned was the large amount of electricity in this country produced by NG. What also wasn't mentioned was the the thermal conversion efficiency for almost all types of generation that use steam to turn turbines (whether gas, coal, nuclear, ...) is generally little better than 30% (more than 50% fuel goes as waste heat - energy). Also not mentioned was that those are the reliable sources that produce power all night and all day generally regardless of weather. In essence you'd likely waste less and pollute less with "dirty gas" to heat your home, your water, and to cook.

We should call attention to those things here. Biases that aren't political but are driven by politics. And we should point them out because I'd bet many posters here didn't read the article but would have been concerned if they had and were presented "the rest of the story".
You ok AM?

Never, ever, ever thought I would see this or say this:

Just watched Stephen A Smith on Bill Maher show say multiple things that I (and likely you) agree with. I have strongly disliked this man for my entire adult life. Still probably disagree with him about the vast majority of things. He just sat there and spoke truth for 15 minutes straight though. Wont get into any of it because of what thread this is...but if yall have HBO, check it out. Crazy.
