Heard from a friend (yes, one of those stories) that Greg Roman, 49ers OC, is very interested in the UT coaching job if it becomes available.

Much like the Gruden story, apparently Roman married a woman from the area and they (she) would like to move closer to home.

Again, not saying it's true or that he should even be an option. Just thought I'd share with the board.

He was with Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and now the 49er's OC. That sounds pretty good if it was a hire right after Kiffin left, but the natives are restless . Good or bad, I think UT $$$$ want a big splash and is going to put all it's eggs in one basket.

This is just as good as throwing Tee Martin's name in the basket. Neither have been an HC so why would either qualify? Just because he's an OC for the NFL? Hogwash!

Agree completely. Just putting it out there.

NFL OC vs. Kentucky WR coach with one half year at USC......pretty obvious to anyone with a brain those would not be equal hires. Still want Gruden

Pretty sure he was in the running for the Penn St job last year. Maybe he wants to come back to the college ranks?

If this actually happened, I will take full credit for being the first person to name him as a person of interest. I was saying I wanted Greg Roman the day after the Kentucky game last year when others were talking about Smart. If we are going to hire a coordinator, he's the one I'd want.

Agreed with everything here. Would be pretty satisfied with Roman.

I work with a guy whose father-in-law went to school with Greg Roman's mom...so, I'm pretty much an insider.

not knocking roman, but I've been under the impression that harbaugh calls the plays.

I'm glad he's interested. I think a lot of coaches would be interested now that things are in better shape. UT is a great job period! All you have to do is win and that's what coaches are hired for.

I wouldn't be opposed to Roman. He is a very good NFL OC and I love the way the 49ers play offense.

However, I'd rather get Willie Taggart if we are going to go for a coach off the Harbaugh tree.

Roman is in my top five as well.

I know quite a few people in Bowling Green that say Taggart isn't quite ready for a stage that big. I think UK would be fools not to go after him.
