If you want the best cheap scotch: Famous Grouse.
I was in a small town pub in Scotland a few years ago and saw locals drinking scotch. I knew they weren't drinking McCallan, so I asked what they were drinking. ALL of them were drinking Famous Grouse. It's not bad for cheap scotch. My preference is Balvenie 21, but that stuff costs as much as many peoples' house payment!

I am drinking Monkey Shoulder and it is pretty good...looking to dive into some Islay, I have had Bowmore 12 and it was pretty good Peat is something different but I like it, I have some Laphroig 10 on order and am wanting some Lagavulin 16 but it is pricey.
